Firefighters tackle large blaze in Taringa unit complex

A major fire has broken out in Brisbane's south-west, with 10 fire crews called to fight a unit fire.

Firefighters were called to the Taringa apartment block, believed to contain four individual units, about 7.15am to find one residence well alight.

Fire crews battle a unit blaze at Taringa on Thursday morning which is sending a cloud of smoke over the city. Nine News

A Queensland Fire and Emergency Service spokesman said the blaze had spread to the roof but couldn't say whether other units were threatened.

Helicopter vision of the blaze shows smoke pouring quickly from the Oxford Terrace roof and spreading over that part of the city.

The QFES spokesman wasn't able to say whether the property had been searched for occupants.

Police said all occupants had been safely evacuated.
