'My worst nightmare happened': Ryan Seacrest opens up about the electrical fire at his $50 million mansion 

He had an electrical fire at his $50 million home on Sunday.

And two days later, Ryan Seacrest opened up about the blaze during his radio broadcast.

The 42-year-old, who told his On Air With Ryan Seacrest listeners that 'my worst nightmare happened,' thinks it was caused by heavy rainfall.

The media personality believes that the substantial rain in Los Angeles caused an electrical box near his driveway to 'pop,' and in turn, set a trash can on fire.

The flames spread to a nearby tree and surrounding shrubbery. 

Ryan told his listeners: 'You're so grateful no one is hurt. You're so grateful you're there to find it,' via UsWeekly

The former American Idol host said he would have had worse damage if he didn't move his car earlier further away from the location of where the fire started on Sunday.

He shared a picture of the damage and wrote: 'Fire last night at the house- thank God everyone is OK. Thanks again @beverlyhillsfirefighters.'

Ryan thanked the firefighters on his social media as well as during the Tuesday radio show.

The TV personality said: 'The firefighters come and you're just so happy to see them.'

After the fire was put out, the star thanked each of the firefighters and gifted them with a bottle of wine.

Ryan said on On Air With Ryan Seacrest: 'I gave them wine. I was like, "What do you give them?"' 

He continued: 'I was like "Thanks guys. When you're off, enjoy."'

Adding: 'Who doesn't want a bottle of wine?' 

Ryan purchased the Beverly Hills mansion in 2012 from Ellen DeGeneres for $49 million, according to TMZ

The home sits on almost three acres and is 9,200 square feet. 

In December, Ryan was trapped in an elevator in New York City - right before he hosted Dick Clark's New Year's Rocking' Eve; he was rescued by the FDNY.
