Honestly, it's the best neck i've ever played. Super smooth, perfect width, plays like butter. Frets are extremely clean too.

I haven’t bought a new guitar in over 10 years and decided it was time to go shopping. I mainly play a 1999 Epiphone Les Paul, so I naturally wanted to go the Gibson route. I had a beautiful Gibson Les Paul Studio in Alpine White in my sights on eBay, and decided to go to a bunch of Long and Mcquade’s before I made my decision.

I tried a bunch of Gibsons and, while they felt better than my current LP, none of them gave me that spark. The last store I went to of the day, and the final guitar I decided to give a go to was this PRS S2 McCarty 594. It was an immediate surprise. It’s the best feeling guitar I’ve every played. It feels so smooth and natural. It just felt like home. I couldn’t stop thinking about it all night so I went back today and picked it up!

Best Translations of Demons and The Idiot? by swesweagur in dostoevsky

[–]EthanCarmanMoore 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven’t read their translation of Demons in a few years but I remember it being very readable and fluid. But when I read Maguire recently I was able to digest and understand a lot more of the philosophical points characters of Dosty was trying to make. Maguire was more readable and digestible.

Now The Idiot, I was not a huge fan of the book when I read P&V’s translation years ago. A lot of the book was lost on me, and there was A LOT of re-reading pages and sections to try and understand exactly what was being said/inferred. I felt it was clunky and confusing. But re-reading the book with Avsey’s translation made me fall in love with it. The writing style, again, was so much more readable but still maintained that Dostoyevsky feel. Also the book is very dialogue heavy so I was able to understand a lot more about our characters.

So I guess it does come down to readability and understanding!

Avsey’s The Idiot is much more readable than the P&V version IMO. P&V’s translation of Demons is great, but I recently read the Robert Maguire translation which I also found a bit more readable! Both are solid tho.

you can be anti-sjw and be a social democrat. anti-sjw positions aren’t inherently right-wing or anything
