A lego monster movie with music purchased from Google Play including;” The Haunted Mansion” album, Bobby Pickett’s “Monster Mash”, Michael Jackson’s ”Thriller”, Prince’s “Batdance”, MGM’s” Poltergeist” theme, George Bruns’ “Sleeping Beauty” track, and CCR’s “Bad Moon Rising”. A story about a couple who venture into the woods, and find monsters of all sorts, whom do not appear to be what they’re all cracked up to be. Fun and adventure take fright as our lovely couple dare to tread into the unknown, as they proceed uncautiously along a sparsely traveled path of great mystery and comedic horrors. My movie is inspired by the fun of Halloween and great monster movies of old, and B&W; films, when movies were classic, not gory. The lego monsters and MOC’s made it possible to capture the scenes necessary to make the movie come to life. It is also a homage to Bill and Mary’s adventures in the Legoland Idea Book that is regarded with fondness from many fans. My wife and I love Halloween and this time of year, so we made this, including many original sound effects from scratch. This movie is not only fun to watch, but also to listen to as a stand alone audio recording. Some of the Characters are, Dracula, Frankenstein, The Wolf Man, The Mummy, a lagoon creature, witches, ghosts, zombies, and many more. With places such as a haunted house, a graveyard, a witches brew, a spooky mansion, a pumpkin patch, a gypsy camp, and a swamp. The story is told from the point of view that these people and characters are real, they don’t know they’re lego, nor act as if they’re lego minifigures. The only inside gag is, that this movie was not made by real humans, but by them, themselves. Made by them on their real life studio, which happens to be a Lego Studio, also an inspiration from a classic lego line of past, which blends perfectly into the genre. That is why there’s no blunders or unnecessary silliness, because they’re trying to make a serious comedic horror film. As did I, because being a film/movie maker is truly a great and creative experience , it can make you appreciate what Hollywood does and all aspects that goes into a film project, I guess only a movie maker can really understand, and now I’m glad I am one of them. I wanted to make a monster movie and subsequent shorts based on monster movies and lego sets. In 2012 I built a diorama of the Monster Fighter sets plus electrified ghost train and MOC’s stuff. The more I stared at this set up, I saw a movie in it, senarios, dialog, what-ifs. So I wrote a script and so on. At first I was going to just use a dvd recorder, and I had most audio done, then when I took pictures I figured to just use computer. My frame rate is one per second average. The original concept was to be like a moving comic strip, only showing enough change to tell the story. Yet, I wanted the characters to behave realistic so walking on studs was out. I also wanted no extra special fx, and I already made a background. At 35 minutes, that’s still 2000+ photos. But they’re not just simple shots, its full detail and reaction shots/reverse angles, so just about 360 degrees of sets and planning, with every scene change. I call it the George Lucas style of film making of old, where you have to do it all yourself no computer/digital fx help. So every shot is like a masterpiece, no sheets in the background or weird shadows, or baseplates for sky, no half measures or faking it. So no matter where you pause the movie, it’s a great looking scene. All the scenes within a chapter were shot out of order, and all had to line up later, including people and things, including tree placements. Which meant story-boarding and topographical mapping. With all the set changes, and scenes, it could have taken well over ten or twenty thousand shots, but that’s too much time to do, and you don’t really need to see someone take20 steps to cross a room to know they walked across, just 2 or 3 shots.
