BUTLER COUNTY, Pa. -
Police in several communities are searching for a burglar who used a ladder to break into at least one home, according to authorities.
Authorities said the brazen daylight burglary on Wednesday happened at a home in the Heritage Village neighborhood on Vanderbilt Drive in Adams Township. Police said the burglar broke in through a locked back door during the lunch hour and stole thousands of dollars in jewelry.
Two days later and less than two miles away, police believe the same person struck again at a home in Field Lake Estates. Officers said that in the second case, the burglar used a ladder to get up to a second-story window and enter the home. Police said the burglar again got away with lots of jewelry.
Adams Township police told Channel 11 News that there are a few cases out of Marshall Township that are similar to theirs. They've also reached out to several surrounding police departments to see if they've had any home break-ins to try to determine if they have a serial burglar on their hands.
