Doug Hawkins has held a surprise wedding for his daughter Leah at his Bacchus Marsh home on the weekend.
"Woof Woof" told the Rumour File about an ex-AFL player who invited guests under the guise of an engagement party but, much to their surprise, it turned into a wedding.
The former Footscray and Fitzroy champion confirmed this happened on Saturday at his home.
"A few knew but most thought they were turning up to my daughter's engagement party," he said.
"Some people turned up in jeans, and a few in shorts. Some even rocked up late and missed the ceremony.
"They got a mighty surprise when they saw a sign saying welcome to our wedding on the front gate!"
Mr Hawkins said it was a "fantastic day" for Leah and her partner.
