Texas couple Bradley and Tammi Bleimeyer reportedly locked their bruised, malnourished 5-year-old son in a tiny, dirty stairway closet with nothing, but a mattress.
It wasn't until police received a disturbance call late last week at their Spring, Texas home, that the little boy was saved.
The boy's 16-year-old stepbrother told police that he had been locked in a closet.
The teen and his father Bradley Bleimeyer, 24, had gotten into an argument in the front yard and were engaged in a fist fight when police arrived.
Officers entered the house and discovered the closet under a stairway, with mattress inside and a lock attached to the door.
Tammi Bleimeyer, the boy's 33-year-old stepmother, had already fled the home with the child by the time authorities arrived.
The child's father and stepmother refused to divulge his whereabouts to police.
Officers tracked the woman down at a nearby motel on Friday after they spotted Bradley Bleimeyer leaving one of the rooms. They went inside, and found Tami Bleimeyer and the boy.
The child was taken to the hospital while both parents were arrested and charged with child endangerment.
"The boy, who was found wearing just a diaper, was severely under nourished, bone sticking out, bumps, bruises. His skin was coming off on his back," said officer Mark Herman.
Tammi Bleimeyer, who is pregnant and has five children, was released on a $2,000 bond. Bradley Bleimeyer was held without bond. The child remains hospitalized.

WENTZVILLE, MO (KTVI) - A young child clings to life after a horrific case of child abuse in Wentzville, MO. This is likely one of the worst cases of infant abuse that police in Wentzville have ever dealt with. It all began Thursday with a six-week-old doing what babies do, cry.
Police say the infant's father, Robert Burnette, couldn't deal with the crying so he shoved his fingers down the baby's tiny throat. He was trying to reach the boy's larynx to stop the crying. Investigators say they got these details from the child's mother, Megan Hendricks, who investigators say stood by and watched and made no attempt to stop the abuse.
Court records also state Burnette also threw the baby onto a bed, violently shook him, and picked him up by the back of the neck. The abuse happened at the couple's apartment. A roommate living with the couple also witnessed the abuse but has not been charged.

Child abuse or child maltreatment is any act, or failure to act, by a parent or other caregiver that results in actual or potential harm to a child. Texas couple Bradley and Tammi Bleimeyer reportedly locked their bruised, malnourished 5-year-old son in a tiny, dirty stairway closet with nothing, but a mattress. It wasn't until police received a disturbance call late last week at their Spring, Texas home, that the little boy was saved. The boy's 16-year-old stepbrother told police that he had been locked in a closet. WENTZVILLE, MO (KTVI) - A young child clings to life after a horrific case of child abuse in Wentzville, MO. This is likely one of the worst cases of infant abuse that police in Wentzville have ever dealt with. It all began Thursday with a six-week-old doing what babies do, cry. Police say the infant's father, Robert Burnette, couldn't deal with the crying so he shoved his fingers down the baby's tiny throat. He was trying to reach the boy's larynx to stop the crying. Texas couple Bradley and Tammi Bleimeyer reportedly locked their bruised, malnourished 5-year-old son in a tiny, dirty stairway closet with nothing, but a mattress.
It wasn't until police received a disturbance call late last week at their Spring, Texas home, that the little boy was saved.
The boy's 16-year-old stepbrother told police that he had been locked in a closet.
The teen and his father Bradley Bleimeyer, 24, had gotten into an argument in the front yard and were engaged in a fist fight when police arrived.
Officers entered the house and discovered the closet under a stairway, with mattress inside and a lock attached to the door.
Tammi Bleimeyer, the boy's 33-year-old stepmother, had already fled the home with the child by the time authorities arrived.
The child's father and stepmother refused to divulge his whereabouts to police.
Officers tracked the woman down at a nearby motel on Friday after they spotted Bradley Bleimeyer leaving one of the rooms. They went inside, and found Tami Bleimeyer and the boy.
The child was taken to the hospital while both parents were arrested and charged with child endangerment.
"The boy, who was found wearing just a diaper, was severely under nourished, bone sticking out, bumps, bruises. His skin was coming off on his back," said officer Mark Herman.
Tammi Bleimeyer, who is pregnant and has five children, was released on a $2,000 bond. Bradley Bleimeyer was held without bond. The child remains hospitalized.

I want to describe my understanding of how charter funding works and how voucher funding works. First, charters receive a per student annual amount for each child from the local public school fund. Each student enrolled in a charter school has that amount transferred to the charter school chosen. The charter has to be approved by the local school district board.
