Borders & Beyond

A moving performance of the civil rights movement’s key anthem by asylum seekers and refugees in the UK.

Asylum seekers and refugees from across London came together to sing “We Shall Overcome”, a song that became a key anthem of the African American civil rights movement. This song has been recorded to raise awareness about the struggles asylum seekers face here. It is an opportunity for their voices to be heard and to raise funds to support asylum seekers.

Please share this uplifting video with everyone you know and, if you are able to, make a donation to the NNLS Asylum Seekers Drop In. This project provides a large package of support to hundreds of asylum seekers across London and beyond. This support includes food, clothing, consultations with doctors, lawyers and therapists, supermarket vouchers and travel money. The project is run entirely by volunteers and all funds raised by this song will be used to purchase the vouchers and travel money for the asylum seekers.
