Mädchen E. Amick (English pronunciation: /ˈmeɪdʃən ˈeɪmɪk/, MAYD-shən AYM-ik; born December 12, 1970) is an American actress, best known for playing Shelly Johnson on the cult television series Twin Peaks and its 1992 prequel film Twin Peaks: Fire Walk with Me. Amick was born in Sparks, Nevada, a few miles east of Reno, the daughter of Judy, a medical office manager, and Bill Amick, a musician. Amick's parents are partly German; the name Mädchen (in German pronounced [ˈmɛːtçn̩]), which means "girl" or "maiden" in German, was chosen by her parents, because they wanted an unusual name. She learned to play the piano, bass, violin and guitar and took lessons in tap, ballet, jazz and modern dance. In 1987, at the age of 16, she moved to Los Angeles to pursue a career in acting.
Twin Peaks is an American television serial drama created by Mark Frost and David Lynch. It follows an investigation headed by FBI Special Agent Dale Cooper (Kyle MacLachlan) into the murder of homecoming queen Laura Palmer (Sheryl Lee) in the fictional town of Twin Peaks, Washington. Its pilot episode was broadcast on April 8, 1990, on ABC. Seven more episodes were produced, and the series was renewed for a second season that aired until June 10, 1991.
Twin Peaks explores the gulf between the veneer of small-town respectability and the seedier life beneath. As the series progresses, the inner darkness of characters who initially appeared innocent is revealed, and they are seen to lead double lives. Its unsettling tone and supernatural features are consistent with horror films, but its campy, melodramatic portrayal of quirky characters engaged in dubious activities parodies of American soap operas. Like much of Lynch's work, the show represents an earnest moral inquiry distinguished by both offbeat humor and surrealism.
Twin Peaks, an American serial drama television series created by David Lynch and Mark Frost, premiered on April 8, 1990 on the ABC Network in the United States and ended on June 10, 1991. The show spans 30 episodes over two seasons. The original pilot and season 2 premiere are 90 minutes long, while all the other episodes are approximately 45 minutes long. ABC canceled the series due to declining ratings in the second season.
Both seasons of Twin Peaks were released on DVD in the U.S. in 2001 and 2007, respectively. A complete series DVD box set, titled "The Definitive Gold Box Edition", with additional features was released on October 30, 2007. The complete series (including the film) was released on Blu-ray with even further material on July 29, 2014.
Twin Peaks follows FBI Special Agent Dale Cooper, who is sent to the fictional town of Twin Peaks, Washington to investigate the murder of popular and respected high school student, Laura Palmer. A feature-length prequel film, titled Twin Peaks: Fire Walk with Me, was released on August 28, 1992, which depicts the events leading up to Laura's death.

Twin Peaks, created by Mark Frost and David Lynch, begins with the discovery of Laura Palmer’s body on the bank of a nearby river. Laura’s death has a devastating effect on the townspeople and everyone is a suspect. Soon the double lives and hidden relationships between the characters in this seemingly idyllic town begin to surface. Special agent Dale Cooper is called in to investigate the murder. Coop could be seen as the leading man, but the show’s true main character may as well be David Lynch. Lynch is an expressionistic filmmaker, known for contrasting the idyllic with the unsettling. This is my love letter to David Lynch's wonderful yet short-lived surreal mystery / comedy / horror / soap opera Twin Peaks. It's a marvel of a series, as delightful as it is disturbing -- a compelling contradiction from start to finish. It's horrific and frightening, yet hilarious and playful. It's nightmarish and haunting, yet dreamy and tongue in cheek. It was a great success, yet doomed to never really finish. There's not many people who can seamlessly blend comedy and violence with the fluidity of Lynch -- and here he achieves it accurately and all within the much narrower limitations of a television show -- where audiences and executives alike are of a much more critical and ratings based mind set. But together with co-creator Mark Frost, (at the time best known for Hills Street Blu...

Throw away all the lies
Take my hand, fall over me
Into the place where we lie down just breathing
Would I ever hurt you, my love?
And I flow with you into the sea
And I no longer feel the air between
Come closer, don't look back
Let me smell all you are
I'll show you all that you ought to see, just breathing
Could I ever hurt you, my love?
And I flow with you into the sea
