Corby faces court over AVO

Mercedes Corby tells a Tweed Heads court she intends to oppose an apprehended violence order taken out against her by former business partner Trudy Todd. 7 News Queensland

Ms Corby said she had received written statements from the applicant only after arriving at court.

"I've just skimmed through it and there's a lot I disagree with," Ms Corby told the court.

The AVO has been sought by police after an alleged dispute between Ms Corby and long-time friend Trudy Todd.

The pair opened a tapas bar on the southern end of the Gold Coast last year. The bar is believed to have gone out of business.

Ms Todd, a former professional surfer, said outside court the dispute did not relate to the business.

"I can't comment at the moment because I'm too scared," Ms Todd said as she entered the courthouse.

The matter has been adjourned until March 13 when it will be set down for a hearing if Ms Corby still opposes the order.
