NEW Kelvin Tennant, 72, was shot in the head and chest by an unknown gunman at 12pm on Saturday as he rode his bicycle on a country bike track in northern Victoria. The grandfather was taken to hospital with pellets lodged near his eyes and upper body and was scheduled for surgery on Monday afternoon. The family of the retired school teacher said on Monday they believe Mr Tennant was about to ride past something the gunman 'didn't want him to see.'

Muslim activist Yassmin Abdel-Magied (left and centre) turned to radical Islamic group Hizb ut-tahrir for advice after her claim on ABC's Q&A; program that Islam was a 'feminist religion' drew widespread condemnation. Just three days after the heated television debate with independent Jacqui Lambie (right), Ms Abdel-Magied asked Hizb ut-tahrir spokesman Wassim Doureihi (right inset) on social media how she could have better presented her opinion. Hizb ut-tahrir openly advocates sharia law and the killing of ex-Muslims. It comes as a petition calling for Ms Abdel-Magied to be sacked from her role as an ABC television presenter reached 13,077 signatures on Monday. An ABC spokeswoman told Daily Mail Australia the 25-year-old would not be fired.

Former Wallaby great Dan Vickerman (right) admitted to friends that he was struggling with retirement (left, announcing retirement) after a decade-long career at the top of rugby union. Vickerman is believed to have taken his own life in his Sydney family home on Saturday night at the age of 37, leaving behind wife, Sarah, and two young girls. Former Wallabies teammate Owen Finegan (pictured together inset) said 'Dan had expressed a number of times how difficult his transition was'.

NEW The family of Nadine Haag, 33, (left) is still pleading for questions almost eight years after she was found with her wrists slashed next to a hand written note saying 'he did it' (right). The mother-of-one's body was found in the shower of her Castly Hill apartment in Sydney on December 4, 2009. Police ruled it a suicide, but her family believe the father of her child and ex-partner is responsible. 'We still strongly believe that Nadine died at the hands of another, or the result of foul play,' her sister Tasia Haag said. A coronial investigation has since overturned the police ruling that she committed suicide.

A manic driver who ploughed his car into oncoming traffic while smiling and wearing aviators instantly killed beloved 61-year-old mother Jenni Pratt (inset). Tributes flowed for Ms Pratt, a woman who was described online as an 'irreplaceable beautiful soul' with an amazing outlook on life and infectious smile. Dylan Mateljan, who filmed the moment the 45-year-old driver collided head-on with a car, said the man tried to swerve into 'at least 25 vehicles' before the fatal crash on a highway south of Perth on Saturday afternoon.

Lawyers for former chauffeur Gordon Wood (left) claim the murder case against him over the death of model Caroline Byrne (right) was 'flawed and ridiculous' and led to a miscarriage of justice. Wood was convicted over the 1995 death of his then-girlfriend Ms Byrne after her body was found at the notorious Sydney suicide spot The Gap (inset). His conviction was quashed in 2012 and he is now suing the state of New South Wales.

Eshley Baker, the 17-year-old granddaughter of a Holocaust survivor, said she was extremely offended when a man walked into the Melbourne McDonald's where she works wearing a swastika. The high school student said she saw the man on Sunday sitting at the back of the store with a swastika armband on his right arm. Ms Baker said urged her manager to ask the man to leave and he was eventually removed after they called the police.

Australian Foreign Minister Julie Bishop captured the attention of North Korean soldiers (left) during a visit to the demilitarised zone between North and South Korea on Saturday. Taking shelter from the cold as temperatures dipped below 5C, Ms Bishop posed briefly for a soldier (right) as he peered through a frosted window at her with his camera in hand. Ms Bishop's travelled to South Korea for two days to meet with senior government officials and discuss North Korea's nuclear program.

Australian woman Micayla Lally, 37, (inset) met her future husband Anthony (both pictured left and right) on day of the 2004 federal election. She got down on one knee and proposed after they spent four hours together. He said they should wait a little longer, and popped the question himself five months later. They now have three sons together and are happily living in Oregon.

Karl Stefanovic's mum Jenny had an awkward moment on Sunday when she stumbled across a photo of her son canoodling with his new love on the front cover of the weekend paper. Jenny was doing some shopping at Woolworths at Double Bay when she was confronted with the cover image. The photos in question were of Karl and his rumoured girlfriend Jasmine (bottom right), spotted for the first time together getting cosy while on a boat party on Harbour on Saturday. However, the photos weren't compelling enough for Jenny to buy a copy - and she put it back on the rack before leaving the store.

A Brisbane teenager's obscenity-laden rant at a cab driver has gone viral. Tamika Dudley, 19, posted the tirade to her thousands of Snapchat followers after a Black & White Cab driver wasn't sure how to get to her desired destination. 'I put in the GPS, so follow the GPS. What's so hard? What's so f****** hard about following the GPS?' she ranted. 'You picked me up and you're a cab driver and you're telling me to get out because you don't know where you're going?' As well as repeatedly swearing, she added captions on the social media platform. Other cab drivers said incidents like this were fairly common.

Colin Barnett launched the Liberal Party's state election campaign in Western Australia yesterday with some incredibly awkward dancing to Daft Punk's song One More Time. Mr Barnett and his fellow Liberals were filmed awkwardly dancing on stage while clapping completely out of time with not only the beat, but each-other too. If the song was meant to represent their bid for another term in power, the dancing will have been enough to put voters off altogether.

President Donald Trump sent out a tweet on Saturday saying he was citing a Fox News report when he made reference to a security incident in Sweden. 'My statement as to what's happening in Sweden was in reference to a story that was broadcast on concerning immigrants & Sweden,' Trump said in a tweet (inset). The Swedish embassy in Washington had asked the US State Department for an explanation of Trump's comments suggesting there been some sort of attack in Sweden on Friday. During his Florida rally last night, the president made reference to a security incident in Sweden that apparently occurred on the previous night, leaving many Swedes baffled. The White House responded saying Trump was referring to 'rising crime and recent incidents, in general,' and not 'a specific incident' in Sweden. Trump's remarks came as he vowed to protect the US borders while addressing supporters at his campaign-style rally in an aircraft hangar at Orlando-Melbourne International Airport.

Donald Trump's new Treasury Secretary definitely has an eye for figures, as his glamorous fiancée proved last week in the Oval Office. While the President watched approvingly, Steve Mnuchin was sworn in alongside Scottish-born actress Louise Linton, 35, who revealed much more than bargained for in her latest movie, Intruder. Stripping down for a steamy shower scene and bedroom romp, Linton achieved a level of notoriety last year when it was alleged she fabricated her experiences in Africa for her memoir. She has also starred alongside Tom Cruise and Robert Redford in minor roles in her rise to fame. A woman from Waikato, New Zealand, is warning about the dangers of using potting mix without a face mask, after she fell into a two-week coma and nearly lost her life. Susan Dromgool (pictured right, inset and centre of left), 53, spoke to FEMAIL about how she nearly lost her life after planting succulents wearing gloves but no mask: 'The doctors told me if I'd been ten years older, I would have died,' she explained.

On Sunday, Justine Clarke became the first woman in a wheelchair to compete in the Miss World Australia contest. The 26-year-old, who competed in the state's final in Adelaide, suffers a 'lower leg deformity', is smashing stereotypes and is on a mission to make the runway an accepting place for all women. 'I want the catwalk to be a fair and inclusive place for everyone,' she said. The finalists selected were Aishah Stocker (right of inset) and Sophie Ludbrock (left of inset), who will go on to compete for Miss World Australia 2017.

A boy was captured on film shoving his mother and pulling her hair while waiting for a doctor's appointment in the US. The woman became more and more upset until she eventually lashed out at her son. Other people in the waiting room averted their eyes as the disturbing scuffle escalated.

Young Australian singer-songwriter Melody Pool (left and right) has revealed how her life was torn apart after discovering the love of her life was cheating on her. The 25-year-old from Kurri Kurri in New South Wales said she fell into a deep depression after discovering her partner and fellow musician Harry Hookey (centre) was cheating on her. 'I didn't know whether I was OCD or bipolar or had autism, like I had no idea what was going on in my head,' Ms Pool said.

Shocking photographs have been released showing the scene of the hotel room where Kim Kardashian was the victim of a violent robbery. A French television network screened images of the crime scene, alongside a video of the alleged robbers. Chilling pictures appear to show the tape used to bind the star's hands during the terrifying incident. Kim Kardashian had a life-altering experience when she was robbed at gunpoint of some $10m worth of jewels while in Paris in October. She was held at gun point, bound and gagged and left in the hotel bathroom after the robbers took several pieces of her diamond jeweley. None of the items have been recovered, though several men have been arrested in connection with the crime. The French television network TF1 played a video re-enactment of the robbery, showing a group of men holding the star at gunpoint in the middle of a room. CCTV stills show several men walking along the road outside the hotel - one with a bicycle and wearing a high-vis jacket. They can then be seen together in a French cafe.

Heartbreaking images show the ravaging effects of Huntington's Disease, after 20-year-old Becky Aspinall was diagnosed eight years ago. The young mother has lost the ability to eat, talk and walk. Now Becky, who was once the life and soul of the party, has been stripped of her independence and vigour. She is even unable to look after her young son Alfie and move into a care home. Huntington's disease is a hereditary disorder of the central nervous system which leads to a lack of muscle control and wastage, mood swings, personality changes and memory loss. Children of sufferers have a 50 50 chance of inheriting the condition.

An Adelaide man has risked his life to save his 15-year-old pet dog from their burning home overnight. Joseph Sammut, 75, (left and top right) found his car engulfed in flames shortly after 11pm on Sunday night before the flames spread to the family home (bottom right). The 75-year-old ensured his wife was safe before racing back inside against fire fighters' advice to rescue the dog (left). 'I've had him since he was six months old. He's man's best friend,' he told Nine News. Mr Sammut, his wife and their beloved dog Prince all escaped injury but an estimated $200,000 damage was done to the Dulwich home.

94-year-old grandma, Zhang Hexian, from China, is wowing people the world over with her impressive Kung Fu skills. Mrs Hexian has been practicing Kung Fu since she was just four-years-old and teaches it to students in Liyang town in Ningbo city, east China's Zhejiang province. Mrs Hexian is still very healthy to this day and says her skills 'enabled her to challenge the local bully and put other rascals in their place' from a young age.

Norma McCorvey, who had been ill for some time, passed away from heart failure at an assisted living center in Katy, Texas on Saturday where she was surrounded by her family. But one person who would not have been there to say goodbye was the girl McCorvey gave up for adoption in 1970 who became the basis for the legal case that changed American's political landscape. The baby girl, who would now be a 47-year-old woman, was adopted immediately after McCorvey gave birth in June 1970. The family who adopted the girl has kept their identity private all these years. McCorvey won fame as an abortion-rights icon and as the pro-life activist she would eventually become when she sought to abort her third pregnancy in Texas when she was 22.

Overconfident Joe Harding (left) was battling John Segas (right) in the British MMA 18 featherweight title fight in Colchester - Harding's hometown - last night. With the home crowd behind him, Harding won the opening two rounds and it was not long before he was showing off to his fans. Harding was doing so well he decided to offer up some dance moves to entertain the crowd (inset) and wind up his opponent. However, the joke was on him and his moment of comical mocking soon turned to disaster.

Ana White came up with the hack while fitting out a tiny house (inset) for a client in Alaska. Tasked with creating an open space with enough room to sleep four in the tiny, 24-ft long house, she decided to raise the first bed to give more floor space.Instead of creating a ladder for a traditional loft bed, she built a moving platform which is controlled by a switch to bring it to ground level and back up again. It cost $500 to make and is one of a handful of space saving solutions in the home.

Two cute koala cubs have jostled it out for a spot on their favourite branch at a Melbourne wildlife park. The pair of joeys were peacefully perched on a tree in the Moonlit Sanctuary Wildlife Conservation Park, in Pearcedale, indulging in a playful cuddle with one another before the cuddle turned nasty with one of the joeys grabbing the other by the scruff of the neck and tossing it from the branch.

Muffin the five-year-old tabby cat stands up on her hind legs, reaches up to pull the handle down, then hooks a paw behind the door of her home in Ely, Cambridgeshire, to swing it open. The cat was rescued from an animal shelter when she was two and her owners say she is 'particularly astute at figuring out how to get to where she wants to go'.
