Tropical Low
Tropical Cyclone Alfred (Category 1) has formed in the southwest Gulf of Carpentaria and is expected to continue along it track towards the southeast today. The system is forecast to weaken before it crosses the coast to the west of the NT/QLD border late on Tuesday.
GALES with gusts of 85-95 km/h may occur in squalls along exposed areas of the southern Gulf of Carpentaria coast. Sustained GALES with gusts to 100 km/h may occur between between Port Roper and the NT/Qld border later today.
HEAVY RAIN which may lead to FLOODING is likely over the eastern Carpentaria District and around the southern Gulf of Carpentaria today and Tuesday.
Abnormally high tides are likely about the southern Gulf.
