The headteacher of a mostly Muslim primary school has been forced to work from home by death threats from parents who hate her western values. Trish O'Donnell, head of Clarksfield Primary School in Oldham (pictured), has endured 'harassment and intimidation' in the form of 'aggressive verbal abuse' and 'threats to blow up her car' from parents pushing conservative Muslim values. Former governor Nasim Ashraf (left) has been accused of intimidating staff but there is no suggestion he threatened Mrs O'Donnell, whom he wants to resign. The school is mostly filled with Pakistani pupils who do not speak English as a first language. A section of the school's website titled British values only reads: 'coming soon'.

Huntington's disease is a hereditary disorder of the central nervous system which leads to a lack of muscle control and wastage, mood swings, personality changes and memory loss. Children of sufferers have a 50 50 chance of inheriting the condition.

The men were taking part in Hadaka Matsuri - or the Naked Man Festival - which takes place every year at the Saidaiji Kannon-in temple in Okayama City in western Japan. The men shoved each other for more than an hour on Saturday night in hopes of retrieving the lucky batons, thrown by a priest into the crowd. The sacred batons - measuring 4cm in diameter and 20cm in length - are believed to bring good luck for an entire year to whoever catches them. At 10pm, after the lights were turned off, the men battled fiercely with each other in a bid to grab the pair of lucky sticks - known as the shingi. The winners are dubbed 'fuku otoko', or lucky men, and are promised a year of good fortune.

This is the heartwarming moment a homeless man cheered after he landed a job and received his first week's wages. The unidentified man pumped his arms and ran across the road with delight after he was offered a permanent contract at a window supplier yesterday. He was given the job after a trial period at Central RPL in west Bromwich, not far from where he lives at a homeless shelter in Wolverhampton.

Stills from a shocking video taken at Redditch's Hewell Prison show one inmate grab another in a choke-hold, punch him in the back of the neck and finally violently kick him in the face. The fight, which appears to be organised, is filmed in a prison bathroom and shows several other convicts casually observing the brawl. The footage in understood to have been taken at Hewell earlier this month. It follows a string of illegal recordings inside local prisons, including a Christmas rap video at HMP Hewell. Recently, footage from HMP Featherstone in Staffordshire showed a Fight Club-style brawl. Phones have been banned in British prisons.

Specialist cleaner Elena Stiglits (inset) said she was hired to clean the home of celebrity chef Jamie Oliver (right, with his wife Jools). Robert Jones, now 44, is describing his arrest at 4am on April 18, 1992, for the notorious killing of a British tourist, Julie Stott (left), as well as three robberies and a brutal rape. He had no previous convictions, and by the time of his trial, another man had already been convicted of Julie's murder. But Jones was to spend the next 24 years of his life locked up in Louisiana's most terrifying prisons (inset) for crimes that even the lawyers who convicted him knew he had not committed. It was not until the end of January this year that New Orleans prosecutors, who for years hid evidence proving Jones's innocence, finally announced they would not seek a retrial, following his victory on appeal (right).

This is the moment a police officer in Auckland, New Zealand, was filmed arresting a bikie with a flying tackle after he allegedly smashed up a bar and then tried to flee from the cops. Dan Wood, a bar worker and student who filmed the incident, claimed the bikie had been thrown out of a nearby bar days before but returned to hunt down the bartender, before trashing the placed and terrorising the customers. Mr Wood said he then fled police but returned to drink a beer left on an outside table when he was tackled.

A rescue operation has been launched to free a large cargo ship that is lodged in icy wasteland off the coast of Russia. The wrecked and abandoned Yeruslan cargo ship is currently trapped in the Amur Bay waters. A large team were pumping water from the ship (inset), with her stern nearly completely underwater and her bow lifted off the surface (main image).Thieves were blamed after the cargo ship trapped became trapped in the ice-covered bay and burst into flames. The Cambodian ship has been stuck in the ice near the far-eastern Russian city of Vladivostok.

Naoyuki Oi celebrated booking his place in the quarter-final of the World Pool Masters by giving one of the most amusing interviews imaginable in his broken English. Speaking to Tony Wrighton in front of the spectators after sealing his win, Oi seemed to pay little attention to what he was being asked, instead staring intently forward before replying with some strange quips that had little reference to the questions. When quizzed about how he won the match, he said: 'My name is Naoyuki Oi. Today, very lucky. CONGRATULTIONS ME!' he exclaimed, throwing his hands up into the air as the crowd laughed.
