Gunman fires a shot through the upstairs window of a family home leaving a woman and children inside 'terrified'

A woman and children were left 'terrified' after a gunman shot at a family home in the middle of the night.

A single shot was fired through the upstairs window of the semi-detached house in Tameside, Greater Manchester, at around 3.10am on Saturday morning.

A black Mercedes was seen speeding away from the scene following what is believed by police to have been a targeted attack.

Police are appealing for witnesses or any information about the incident. 

Detective Constable Marc Barker, from Greater Manchester Police, said: 'It is fortunate that no one was hurt, but a woman and children were at home at the time and were, understandably, terrified.

'We believe this was a targeted attack and I want to reassure the community that a team of officers is working on this case and we have increased patrols in the area.'
