Mini Clubman Gets The JCW Treatment

MINI’s extended wheelbase, four-door Clubman model now has a racy John Cooper Works (JCW) variant priced at $53,900 (plus on-road costs).

It arrives claiming a couple of milestones for Mini: the first new generation Mini to combine the JCW specification with all-wheel-drive (and the first to use the latest ‘All4’ system) and it has the highest torque so far (350Nm) from the turbocharged 2.0-litre four-cylinder engine.

The updated electro-hydraulic All4 system is lighter and more efficient and works in conjunction with the dynamic stability control system.

Maximum power remains 130kW and drive is via an eight-speed sports Steptronic automatic transmission (a six-speed manual is a no-cost option).

That all adds-up to zero to 100km/h in 6.3 seconds and combined-cycle fuel consumption is rated at 7.2l/100kms.

As standard, the Mini JCW Clubman rides on specially-tuned JCW suspension and 19-inch JCW alloy wheels with run-flat tyres. Keen drivers will tick the no-cost option box for fixed sports suspension which drops the ride height by 10mm.

Alternatively, another no-cost option delivers 18-inch alloy wheels fitted with non run-flat Michelin Pilot Super Sport tyres. Tick this box and you can also order (again at no cost) the optional dynamic damper control.

Understeer-combating Mini Performance Control is standard.

Standard kit includes leather sports seats, Mini’s ‘Professional’ navigation system with an 8.8-inch colour touchscreen, head-up display, LED headlights and a reversing camera.
