Error

An error (from the Latin error, meaning "wandering") is an action which is inaccurate or incorrect. In some usages, an error is synonymous with a mistake (for instance, a cook who misses a step from a recipe might describe it as either an error or a mistake), though in technical contexts the two are often distinguished. For instance, in statistics "error" refers to the difference between the value which has been computed and the correct value.

In human behavior the norms or expectations for behavior or its consequences can be derived from the intention of the actor or from the expectations of other individuals or from a social grouping or from social norms. (See deviance.) Gaffes and faux pas can be labels for certain instances of this kind of error. More serious departures from social norms carry labels such as misbehavior and labels from the legal system, such as misdemeanor and crime. Departures from norms connected to religion can have other labels, such as sin.

CJ E&M Music Performance Division (Hangul:CJ E&M 음악공연사업부문 CJ E&M eumak gongyeonsa yeopbumun), also known as CJ E&M Music and Live (or Music·Live) (formerly known as Mediopia Technology Corp., GM Agency Co. Ltd., CJ Music Inc. and Mnet Media Corp.), is a South Korean entertainment company headquartered in Seoul, South Korea which produces, broadcasts, distributes and provides a variety of music and entertainment. It is a subsidiary of the CJ Group. Once the home to top-selling groups such as Lee Hyori and SeeYa, its current roster of recording artists include T-ara, CNBLUE and F.T. Island.

CJ E&M Music won the "Music Distributor of the Year" trophy at the 3rd Gaon Chart K-Pop Awards in 2014.

Error detection and correction

In information theory and coding theory with applications in computer science and telecommunication, error detection and correction or error control are techniques that enable reliable delivery of digital data over unreliable communication channels. Many communication channels are subject to channel noise, and thus errors may be introduced during transmission from the source to a receiver. Error detection techniques allow detecting such errors, while error correction enables reconstruction of the original data in many cases.

History

An early systematic use of error detection was by Jewish scribes in the precise copying of the Jewish bible, beginning before Christ. An emphasis on minute details of words and spellings evolved into the idea of a perfect text in 135 CE, and with it increasingly forceful strictures that a deviation in even a single letter would make a Torah scroll invalid. The scribes used methods such as summing the number of words per line and per page (Numerical Masorah), and checking the middle paragraph, word and letter against the original. The page was thrown out if a single mistake was found, and three mistakes on a single page would result in the entire manuscript being destroyed (the equivalent of retransmission on a telecommunications channel). The effectiveness of their methods was verified by the accuracy of copying through the centuries demonstrated by discovery of the Dead Sea Scrolls in 1947–1956, dating from c.408 BCE-75 CE.
