Edith Irving: You're always so careful when you talk, always so soft like a cushion for what you want. But I am leaving. But before I go, I give you something. You are exhausted from your lies. Howard Hughes: secret last 25 years
Howard Hughes didn't die in 1976 but lived another 25 years as Nik Nicely married to Eva McLelland explains Mark Musick convincingly. Mark recounts what he learned about those 25 years from 10 years spent with Eva telling her story, going through her boxes of Howard's papers and conducting a careful investigation. On the sly Hughes managed to conduct business and participate in CIA intrigue. The story is told in the book, Boxes,The Secret Life of Howard Hughes by Douglas Wellman. Among the surprises is Hughes' role in the missing 18 Watergate minutes. Howard's change of eye color was accomplished by an iris implant accomplished in 1966, when the procedure was still experimental. It is a new fact in the 2nd edition of the book, along with many other new facts, which all support Eva McLell...

COLOR FOOTAGE OF HOWARD HUGHES' SPRUCE GOOSE FLIGHT 1947 34620
Note: This footage is copyright registered and solely owned by the Periscope Film LLC Archive.
Rare footage from the archives that dates to November 2, 1947. Shot by amateur cameraman Leo Caloia, it shows the Hughes H-4 Hercules (also known as the "Spruce Goose"; registration NX37602) prototype heavy transport aircraft during taxi tests in Long Beach harbor. The aircraft, which was piloted by none other than Howard Hughes himself, may or may not have intentionally left the water. Either way the Spruce Goose never flew again, and the Hercules never advanced beyond the single example produced. Built from wood because of wartime restrictions on the use of aluminum and concerns about weight, its critics nicknamed it the "Spruce Goose", despite its being made almost entirely of birch rather th...

Howard Hughes didn't die in
1976 but lived another 25 years as Nik Nicely married to Eva McLelland explains
Mark Musick convincingly. Mark recounts what he learned about those 25 years from 10 years spent with Eva telling her story, going through her boxes of
Howard's papers and conducting a careful investigation. On the sly Hughes managed to conduct business and participate in
CIA intrigue. The story is told in the book,
Boxes,
The Secret Life of Howard Hughes by
Douglas Wellman. Among the surprises is Hughes' role in the missing 18
Watergate minutes. Howard's change of eye color was accomplished by an iris implant accomplished in 1966, when the procedure was still experimental. It is a new fact in the 2nd edition of the book, along with many other new facts, which all support Eva McLelland's story.

COLOR FOOTAGE OF HOWARD HUGHES' SPRUCE GOOSE FLIGHT 1947 34620
videos
Note: This footage is copyright registered and solely owned by the
Periscope Film LLC Archive.
Rare footage from the archives that dates to
November 2,
1947.
Shot by amateur cameraman Leo Caloia, it shows the
Hughes H-4 Hercules (also known as the "
Spruce Goose"; registration
NX37602) prototype heavy transport aircraft during taxi tests in
Long Beach harbor. The aircraft, which was piloted by none other than
Howard Hughes himself, may or may not have intentionally left the water.
Either way the Spruce Goose never flew again, and the
Hercules never advanced beyond the single example produced.
Built from wood because of wartime restrictions on the use of aluminum and concerns about weight, its critics nicknamed it the "Spruce Goose", despite its being made almost entirely of birch rather than spruce. The Hercules is the largest flying boat ever built and has the largest wingspan of any aircraft in history. It survives in good condition at the
Evergreen Aviation Museum in
McMinnville, Oregon,
USA. (
Please note: This is copyrighted footage and an excerpt from a longer film.)
This film is part of the Periscope Film LLC archive, one of the largest historic military, transportation, and aviation stock footage collections in the USA. Entirely film backed, this material is available for licensing in 24p HD. For more information visit

Howard Hughes The Fight For His Billions
Howard Robard Hughes, Jr. (December 24, 1905 -- April 5, 1976) was an American business magnate, investor, aviator, aerospace engineer, film maker and philanthropist. He was one of the wealthiest people in the world. As a maverick film producer, Hughes gained prominence in Hollywood from the late 1920s, making big-budget and often controversial films like The Racket (1928), Hell's Angels (1930), Scarface (1932), and The Outlaw (1943).
Hughes was one of the most influential aviators in history: he set multiple world air speed records, built the Hughes H-1 Racer and H-4 "Hercules" (better known to history as the "Spruce Goose" aircraft), and acquired and expanded Trans World Airlines, which later merged with American Airlines.
