If you are stopped by the police in Moonee Valley or Greater Dandenong , Mildura or Boroondara this year – you should get a receipt.

A police officer or Protective Service Officer (PSO) should give you a receipt if you are stopped n the Moonee Valley, Greater Dandenong, Mildura or Boroondara areas this year.

This IS NOT A FINE.

It is a new project which Victoria Police is running to help ensure police contacts are fair and equitable to all people.  Receipting can make police more accountable and help reduce racial profiling.

You should receive a receipt if a police officer or PSO:

  • approaches you and asks for your personal details
  • talks to you or asks you questions but doesn’t fine or arrest you

Ask for a receipt when stopped in public in Moonee Valley, Dandenong, Mildura or Boroondara.

What you can do with the receipt?

  • Don’t refuse the receipt – it is not a fine and you are not under arrest
  • Take a photo of the receipt and send it to us on 0476 922 361 along with details of what happened.
  • Keep it in a safe place
  • Contact us if you feel like you have been treated unfairly or just to let us know what happened.
