Those with an appetite will find it hard to look past the Trio breakfast burrito, filled with chilli chorizo, scrambled eggs, cheddar, pepper and lime salsa and guacamole. The mediterranean breakfast, complete with poached eggs, truffle oil, chargrilled haloumi and sun dried tomatoes on thick sourdough will also hit the spot.

BELLAGIO CAFÉ (Waverly)

With the café’s exterior decorated in a swirling pattern of abstract eyes and hazy shades of purple, it’s certainly hard to miss. Bellagio bakes all its bread products in-house, making it the perfect destination for a patisserie-style breakfast. The pastries are to die for, with plenty of fresh croissants, scrolls, Danishes, scones and friands to choose from. The rest of the breakfast menu is simple yet hearty, with plenty of fresh eggs, bacon, sourdough and melted cheese.

THE HILL EATERY (North Bondi)

For something a little bit fancy, head to The Hill Eatery in Bondi. Rustic, earthy and organic, many of the fresh ingredients are sourced from local suppliers and although the dishes may be a little pricier than your average breakfast joint, they’re definitely worth it! Try avocado smash, complete with mexican flair, or for something sweet, try the panikeke, an island pancake with banana, blueberries, ricotta and coconut.

THREE BLUE DUCKS (Bronte)

Just up the hill from Bronte Beach sits the Three Blue Ducks. The café’s interior is decorated with an eclectic colour scheme and graffiti wall, with low hanging lamps and wooden furniture, along with an adjoining laneway. The atmosphere is fun and vibrant, with a breakfast menu to match. Start the day with mango lassi bircher muesli sprinkled with berries, kiwi fruit and birdseed mix, or if you're in the mood for something savoury, order the corn fritters with labneh, jalapenos and guacamole.

INDIGO (Double Bay) 

The sunny alfresco dining, fresh produce and rich coffee have earned Indigo the reputation as being one of the best eateries in Sydney. The European style café bakes its own bread and pastries each day, provides its own free range eggs and grows its own veggies. The menu is delicious, with something for everyone.  The fluffy pancakes with caramelised banana and vanilla-whipped mascarpone are perfect for a decadent treat and the honey-roasted leg ham benedict with poached eggs, hollandaise sauce and brioche makes for an excellent brunch.

The café offers an all-day breakfast menu, perfect for those lazy Sunday sleep-ins. The smoked trout and fennel baked egg with caper berries is exceptionally tasty, along with the smoky ham, Swiss cheese mustard aioli and dill pickle baguette.

The dramatic décor of this café, along with its bright yellow exterior, will pique your interest from the moment you first spot it.
