MUP offers customers the opportunity to purchase eBooks directly from our website. The majority of new releases are available in eBook format, and we endeavour to publish the eBook edition for new books at the same time as the print edition. We are also currently working hard to make eBook editions of our backlist available for our readers.

What is an eBook?

Put simply, an eBook is a book in digital format. They can be read on your computer as well as on other electronic device such as an iPad, iPod touch, Kindle, Kobo and other tablets or smartphones. These files are restricted to digital use only—they cannot be printed out into hard copy once purchased.

What eBook formats does MUP offer?

As of March 2014*, we give you the option of downloading your eBook purchase in mobi (Kindle) or epub (all other devices) format.Please note that mobi eBooks are currently only readable on Amazon Kindle electronic devices, whereas epubs are readable on most other electronic devices—including all Apple products, Kobo devices and Android smartphones and tablets. Both formats are protected by Digital Rights Management software and are unable to be printed.
* eBooks published before March 2014 are only available in epub format.

How do I purchase an eBook from MUP?

In order to purchase an eBook from our online store, simply add the eBook to your shopping cart via the red ‘+ ADD’ button when viewing a title. You will be automatically redirected to the shopping cart, where you can click the green ‘next’ button to provide us with your payment and contact details. Once these steps have been completed, you will be sent a confirmation email with your invoice and a link to download the preferred eBook format of your choice.

How do I transfer an eBook to my Apple device?

You can download the ePub file directly to your iBooks on an Apple device by opening the download link sent to your email address upon purchase, and clicking 'download' on the ePub file option. You can also sync your iPad/iPhone to your Mac computer, making sure that the 'books' tab in your device has settings updated to sync the eBook you wish to your device. Please note: it has been brought to our attention that customers may have difficulty adding an eBook directly to iBooks via an email client such as Gmail on an iPad or iPhone. If you experience this issue, please try opening the download page in a new browser window (click on the image in the bottom right hand corner to 'open in safari'), and your download should work.
