Adele has taken out the top gong at this years Grammy award, walking away with five awards including the album of the year.

She was up against fierce competition with Beyoncé, Justin Bieber, Drake and Sturgill Simpson all in contention.

Adele used her win to praise Beyoncé saying, "I can't really accept this award," 

"This album you made — the Lemonade album — is so monumental.

"The way you make me and my friends feel, the way you make my black friends feel is empowering.

"And they stand up for themselves. And I love you. I always have."

Australian producer Flume took home success winning his first Grammy for Best Dance Album.
