What's the old adage about playing with fire? Mirvac's head of office and industrial property, Campbell Hanan, has learned the hard way that given the choice, a bull would really rather not be separated from its balls.
The former Investa CEO was the object of sympathy at Thursday's results presentation, sporting the mother of all shiners and a sheepish demeanour.
"He had an altercation with a bull," Mirvac CEO Susan Lloyd Hurwitz explained to the assembled. As indeed he had.
Turns out Hanan copped a hoof in the head at the weekend while down on the farm ... castrating bulls. We're not sure how that process is performed, but suspect it doesn't involve a local anaesthetic.
Perhaps unsurprisingly, one bull took exception to Hanan's attempt to neuter it, letting fly with a well-aimed back hoof. He will now have to undergo reconstructive surgery (Hanan, not the bull) – so extensive was the damage to his face.
"It's fair to say I didn't look like Brad Pitt before, and I definitely don't now," Hanan told us. Ouch.
