A photographer in WA's Pilbara has captured a spectacular image of electric blue lightning veining the night sky above the town of Newman - and all because his wife told him to take out the bins.
Kevin Mitchell said he was relaxing at home on Thursday night when his better half reminded him of the weekly chore.
"The wife asked me to take the bin out last night (yeah I know that one job we have to do). Got to the end of the driveway and BANG the sky lit up."
Never one to miss a picture opportunity, Mr Mitchell grabbed his photography gear and headed out to take shots of the sudden storm.
"I thought maybe I should take a drive up "good old radio hill." Well I was up there for about 3 hours running around in different spots as it was all around us, just to let you all know."
"I can take other images besides lightning, but hey, what could I do? It was calling me."
There's no word on what his wife thought of turning a two minute chore into a three hour photography lark, but Mr Mitchell's work certainly shows the Pilbara and Newman in all their glory.
The shot has attracted plenty of praise, with one person writing on his Facebook wall, "Wow. Wow. Wow!! That is freakin' awesome. Feeling envy, admiration and inspiration all rolled into one at the moment. Love it!!!!!"
Another said "So we owe this awesomeness to your wife? Next time she shouldn't have to ask you to take the bin out tho."
