Actions 

• Represented constituent’s concerns around the changes to the The Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation (EPBC) Act 1999. Click here to read the Minister’s response

• Raised concerns with the Minister for Environment about the about the impact of industrial development on the Great Barrier Reef

• Highlighted the great work of the Lurg Hills community ‘Regent Honey-Eater Project’ which is conserving native vegetation and habitat for threatened species such as Regent Honey-Eaters.

• Shared a response from the Parliamentary Secretary Senator Richard Colbeck on supertrawlers

• Questions in Writing - Supertrawlers

• Supported submissions to the Minister for the Environment asking the Government to retain many of the things about Landcare that are working

• Asked the Government to listen to the voices of the many Indi residents who support retaining or increasing the Renewable Energy Target (RET)

• Invited the Minister for the Environment to visit local renewable energy businesses and households in Indi to see the real benefits of the RET

• Represented the views of Indi residents to the Government on a wide range of environmental issues including:

  • climate change legislation and the carbon tax

  • Landcare funding

  • marine sanctuaries

  • whaling

  • supertrawlers

  • renewable energy issues and solar electricity pricing

  • logging

  • water use

• Voted against repeal of the carbon tax

• Begun consulting a wide range of Indi stakeholders involved in water management
