Ross Daly

Many years before what we call "World Music" appeared on the scene, certain individuals had already understood the enormous value and vast variety of the world's various musical traditions and had dedicated their lives to their study. One such person is ROSS DALY.

Although of Irish descent, Ross Daly does not really fit into any particular ethnic stereotype given that his life has been spend in many different parts of the world and his home for the last 35 years is the island of Crete in Greece. Ross Daly, at a very early age, discovered that music was, in his own words, “the language of my dialogue with that which I perceive to be sacred”.

Dori Freeman (US)

Breakout Americana artist DORI FREEMAN will make her debut at the Caravan. Dori Freeman has a perfect country voice: languid and pure-toned but with a little Appalachian dust on it. Freeman’s storytelling soaks up the wisdom of more decades than the 25-year-old has been around. Her songs hit you like a train. They are stunningly gorgeous, lyrically rich and so thoughtfully executed. Her lilting vocals shine – at times reminiscent of Emmylou Harris – and are delivered with such an aching, melancholic sincerity that her reflections on love, loss and heartbreak wind up buried deep under your skin.

Dori Freeman has its own unique sound while also drawing from many different genres.  Freeman says the distinct sound of the record, produced by acclaimed singer/musician Teddy Thompson, came about organically.  “We just wanted it to sound genuine,” she says.  “To be current and sincere.”

That sincerity is palpable on the album, made up of songs full of longing, wit, and haunting vocals from Freeman, who sings in a seemingly-effortless but layered, sensual way, causing each word—and note—to take flight.

Dylanesque - The Bob Dylan Story

Bob Dylan changed music forever when he burst onto the scene in the 60s in Greenwich Village. DYLANesque pays tribute to his extraordinary life, times and music, as singer JEFF JENKINS cleverly intersperses stories of key moments from Bob’s life, with a spellbinding performance of more than 30 of Dylan’s finest songs. Together with his electrifying 4-piece band they are stunning audiences with their authentic, powerful homage to one of the 20th Century’s greatest songwriters.

Jeff Jenkins, lead singer, (and writer / producer) opens the show with the tale of how a young 19 yr old Bob Dylan hitch-hiked his way from Duluth Minnesota to New York City with a guitar and $10 in his pocket – and went on to become one of the world’s most successful songwriters of all time.

Starting from his humble beginnings busking in cafes, ‘DYLANesque – The Bob Dylan Story’ is a 2-hour narrated rock show that leads you through the songs and events that shaped Dylan; his relationships and breakups, religious conversions, the dramatic scenes when Bob ‘went electric’ at Newport Folk Festival in 1965, how he went from playing solo to playing with The Band, through all his incarnations including the much loved Travelling Wilbury’s.
