Trudeau says he could not support proportional representation (PR), the system that would best ensure the popular vote is accurately reflected in the House of Commons. He claims PR would allow extremists to hold the balance of power in Ottawa. This is simply fear-mongering, unworthy of a prime minister. The electoral reform charade has made it regrettably clear that there is no real commitment to building the "fair and open" government Trudeau promised would engage with Canadians.
After several years of appearing on RT, the propaganda arm of the Kremlin, hobnobbing with Russian oligarchs, and cultivating connections with Russian flatterers after his career in US intelligence went south, it has become clear what was motivating Flynn: A combination of personal redemption with a belief that the West is in a culture war with the Islamic world.
We cannot continue to hide from the truth. We broke them; we owe them. No amount of re-framing will change that fact. If these veterans made it home from a war, then we should be able to stop them being further casualties.
With direct eye contact and a confident handshake, Trudeau firmly placed his left hand on his host's right shoulder to quickly define "his bubble." We almost heard him say, "This, is my border Mr. President." Trump's handshake talks. Trudeau's does, too. And yours, do you know what it says about you?
As someone who trains Boomers and Gen X'ers to life coach teens and young adults, I often find that the best examples to explain my work to those wanting to know the secrets of working with Millennials, comes from my own personal practice life coaching teens and young adults. Today's topic is: Parents and Millennials -from Miscommunication to Co-creation or How to I Learned to Stop Screaming.
Proponents say preclearance will facilitate the flow of people and goods between the US and Canada. Under preclearance, a traveller passes through US customs in Canada, so they do not need to do so once they enter the US, and vice-versa. There are US preclearance areas in eight Canadian airports, along with some train and ferry crossings in BC, and plans to expand this to more Canadian airports and train stations. Canadian preclearance zones would also be established for the first time in the United States.
While the main output of the ongoing battle for the Conservative Party of Canada's leadership has been a deluge of candidates, a few interesting policies have also surfaced.

And if you don't like the thought of cooking while your eyes are still half shut, we've even got recipes you can prep the night before (especially handy when you've got company coming for brunch)!
If U.S. President Donald Trump's election south of the border has demonstrated anything, it's that the biggest political extremist threat comes not from small, radical parties on the fringes of political discourse, but from extremist politicians hijacking a major party and using its established legitimacy to validate their views. Our current electoral system amplifies this risk. First-past-the-post gives extremists a bigger platform than they could ever hope for under proportional representation.
President Trump's vilification of immigrants, including a restriction on their movements in the form of a travel ban for people from seven Muslim-majority nations, leaves many genius researchers, engineers and entrepreneurs feeling unwelcome in the U.S. even if they are allowed in.
In politics, it is useless to cast off on others the responsibility for failure, retreat or tragedy. On the contrary, it is necessary to always and without complacency ask ourselves, each one of us and together, what we could have done otherwise to avoid such a tragedy and what could be done to prevent it from happening again.
If gender-based analysis was actually incorporated in the development of the capital budget, staff recommendations would certainly have gone against overpriced infrastructure destined to serve mostly male, car-focused commuters and do more to assist Toronto's vulnerable residents, who are mostly racialized, newcomer, poor families including women and children living in far flung suburban neighbourhoods.
Water on First Nations reserves is a federal responsibility, but "severe underfunding" (in the government's own words) for water treatment plants, infrastructure, operations, maintenance and training has led to this deplorable situation. Canada has no federal standards or binding regulations governing First Nations' drinking water.
A few weeks ago, the Huffington Post gave us a chance to tell our stories, and explain why better regulations are needed to govern agreements between accident victims and the personal injury lawyers who they turn to for protection. Just last week, we were able to tell our stories again, but this time to the MPP for York-Simcoe, Julia Munro.
You've lost some flexibility and simply can't get into the positions you used to be able to. Furthermore, what with the fatigue and bouts of depression, you don't feel like doing "it." But, you are still young and you know it's healthy for couples to have regular sexual intercourse. What's to be done?
Let me start saying that from my "experience," and that's what this article is all about (not expertise), probably most of my visits to doctors and specialists as a patient have been a waste of my time, plus a misuse of all kind of resources depending on where one is living and what kind of insurance one would have.
On January 17, the Conservative Party of Canada held its only French-language debate of the leadership race. For anyone who believes that the French language should be an intrinsic part of the political life of Canada, it was an exercise in frustration. Of the 13 candidates who had the guts to participate in this sorry show, less than half were able to show the basic ability to debate in Canada's other official language. Worse! In order to mask his inability to speak French, Mr. Kevin O'Leary chose to join the race the day after the debate.
Even if your child is not among those who are likely targets at the border, imagine how she would feel if a classmate, friend or teacher were subject to a humiliating search, separation from the group or refusal of entry. How would she react? And how should teachers deal with this?
CETA, the EU-Canada Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement, has everyone talking about Canada in Brussels, the EU capital, ahead of February 15's vote - and it's not always good. So, here is a tip for Prime Minister Justin Trudeau ahead of his Thursday speech at the European Parliament.
Dear Minister Michael De Jong, perhaps it was a good thing that I was not available for your call because I have a feeling you don't really want to hear what I have to say about your government's fiscal management record.
People engaged in conflict need to develop a language of grief. Religion has traditionally offered one, but in Israel's early years people weren't looking for the old mourning rituals that Judaism had to offer. Neither were they particularly interested in warlike language - "warriors," "glory," and so forth. They turned instead to the natural world.
I wrote a blog calling for the resignation of the co-founder of Black Lives Matter Toronto, Yusra Khogali, citing her pattern of vitriol. I knew the piece would be a little controversial, but I did not predict such a firestorm of hate, punctuated by thousands of people labelling me a white supremacist or a racist.
More and more I hear Canadians making mean and disparaging comments about those who disagree or have different points of view. I also hear racist remarks, which is terribly distressing. It's not who we are as a nation. Some of the things said after the shooting at the Mosque in Quebec made me feel like I was at a Trump rally. And I'm not ashamed, or afraid, to say I don't like it.
