Former Queensland premier Anna Bligh has been named as the new head of Australia's peak banking lobby group.
The Australian Bankers' Association cited Ms Bligh's leadership and community service when announcing she would become the group's first female CEO on April 3.
"She is highly regarded and respected by community, political and business leaders and understands the need for all stakeholders to work together to deliver the best outcome for customers," ABA chairman Andrew Thorburn said in a statement.
