Leah Ruppanner

Dr Leah Ruppanner joined the University of Melbourne Sociology faculty in July of 2013. She is currently a 2015 ARC Discovery Early Career Research Award (DECRA) Recipient ($372,000). Prior to her appointment, she was a Research Assistant Professor at the University of Nebraska Lincoln where she worked on the NSF funded project “Reducing Error in Computerized Survey Data Collection.”(SES-1132015). $2,967,347. Dr. Ruppanner researches work and family issues with particular focus on the impact of macro-structural gender equality and public policy. Her research is published in a range of top tier sociology journals including Social Forces, Social Science Research, European Sociological Review and Work and Occupations. In addition, her research has been featured in Slate, the Guardian and the Age. For this work, Dr. Ruppanner has received grants including the Dyason Fellowship and serves on the Associate Editorial Board for Work, Employment and Society . Dr. Ruppanner is also a Research Fellow at the ARC Centre for Excellence for Children and Families over the Life Course. Dr. Ruppanner's current research agenda focuses on the impact of differential health and well being outcomes for families across the world.
