Midnight Oil announce world tour

Australian band Midnight Oil announce they will reform for a world tour in 2017.

The details of that performance are yet to be announced, but details of the major part of the tour were revealed at an event in Sydney on Friday morning.

The group will commence the tour on April 25 in Porto Alegre in Brazil before touring North America, Europe and New Zealand from May until September.

They will then begin their extensive Australian leg of the tour in Alice Springs on October 2.

The group, fronted by former politician Peter Garrett, also revealed plans to release more than 14 hours of previously unreleased and rare material in a collection called The Overflow Tank.

Tickets go on sale to the general public on February 27.
