Week of mobilization and international solidarity from September 21 to September 30, for all our comrades kidnapped all over the world. in en-gr-es-it-ger (Chile)

Week of mobilization and international solidarity from September 21 to September 30, for all our comrades kidnapped all over the world.

The survival of capitalism is so monotonous and is structured in such a way that it is not so different from that of cruel prison. Cities, timetables, work, school, family and countless repressive bodies are  suffocating us in a way that resembles a big prison unit. Surveillance cameras 24 hours a day, thousands of cops defending property, severe judges smiling satisfied when they enforce their harsh laws, tight handcuffs before their impregnable cages, etc, etc: this is what society uses in order to keep individuals under control; those who, fearing the punishment reserved to those who trespass the codes of imposed behaviour, stay silent, get used to oppression, absorb it like an integral part of life, like something natural, and so they prefer to avoid conflict with authority instead of rebelling. The powerful in all States don’t spare any efforts to repress and imprison those who have set themselves against the existent.

But today we are not going to write about survival within capitalism. We want to greet those who did not hesitate to trespass their moral enclosures and fought power face to face, those who today are inside the most blatant edifice of repression, prison. We are writing to express our solidarity with our comrades in jail. Power attacks by imprisoning comrades and organizes itself in order to crush the ideas of freedom. The revenge of power particularly hits well known individuals who openly declare themselves antiauthoritarian or anarchist and make an important weapon of struggle out of the spreading of ideas-deeds, as happened in Italy, Bolivia and Chile. The spectre generating from the possibility of an international web (we don’t mean any kind of organization) must continue to materialize like a real proposal.

A web through which comrades in different parts of the world - who don’t know one another nor will they ever meet, don’t obey any kind of structure or need any ideologies or ‘leaders’, can unite their will, efforts and complicity in order to face dominion in all its aspects, and with different instruments can overcome language barriers and fictitious borders and establish links of solidarity by overcoming false impositions…

Therefore, from September 21 to September 30,  we call for a week of unrest and solidarity with our brothers and sisters, with comrades kidnapped all over the world. It shouldn’t be necessary to make calls for a week of unrest, as we normally don’t like to do this because ‘solidarity’ does not knows calendar dates. But actions are being diluted in the endless chasm of information and in ‘so-called local struggles’, whereas the concentration of our energies in a limited period of time will help us to give a renewed and constant impulse to the struggle against prison and the spreading of libertarian ideas. Any action, any word of support gives strength and courage to prisoners.  And in this struggle for total liberation we don’t forget the repression suffered by millions of animals locked up in zoos, circuses and laboratories. We must struggle for their liberation.

This is a call to say, by multiform actions and different instruments, that our imprisoned comrades are not forgotten. Our actions of solidarity elude all watchtowers and run over kilometres of ocean in order to embrace all the irreducible standing out in the struggle inside and outside prison.  However we put the abstract imposition of borders into question, since so-called internationalism shouldn’t be such, considering that ‘in the world of bosses we are all foreigners.’

Rebel greetings to:

With anger and love…

Saluti ribelli a:

Rebelische Grüsse an:

Communique of Silvia about her anti-WEF hunger strike from 20th to 29th of January 2012 (Switzerland)

Feb. 14, 2012 325 magazine

Nanotechnologies are going to be one of the discussion points of the World
Economic Forum. This is exemplary of how, along with biotechnologies, they
are something more than a simple technological development. They represent
a strategical and fundamental choice for the survival of this
tecno-industrial system, they are the bricks with which the system will
rebuild itself in every sector.

“Control the oil and you will control the nations, control the food and
you will control the populations” (Kissinger, 1970).

Control on basic food supplies, on resources, on rare and raw materials,
to hold entire populations in check, but mostly to expand and develop a
techno-industrial system. The project to achieve the strategic aim of
control over the global food security started in the USA in the 30′s with
the creation of the corporation field of agribusiness. An empire which
financed the “Green Revolution”, the oil and chemical corporations
monopolized the field of the patents, of the seeds, they imposed and
introduced the GMOs in the southern countries. These corporations
reorganized themselves as “life science” businesses, at the same time as
sterile GMO seeds left their laboratories.

From the biotechnological revolution to the nanotechnological one: a
continuous thread that interweave every day more, that melts in itself the
schemes of converging sciences (biotechnologies, nanotechnologies, information
technology, neurosciences) to expand and encompass every aspect of our
lives and penetrate in the biological processes of every living being.

“The erasure of animistic and organic assumptions about cosmos meant the
death of nature: the most influential effect of the scientific revolution.
Since nature started to be conceived as a sum of dead and inactive cells,
driven by external forces instead of internal ones, the mechanical frame
itself could legitimate the manipulation of nature. Furthermore, the
mechanistic order, being a conceptual frame, was associated with a system
of values based on power, entirely compatible with the orientations of
commercial capitalism” (C. Merchant, “The death of nature”).

In Bolivia, in a long march in defence of mother Earth the ancestral
tribes together with peasants managed to stop the project of the
construction of an highway, which was supposed to tear up the Amazon
forest. We cannot perceive the forest as an essential element for life on
Earth if we don’t feel part of it. Until we don’t feel to be part of a
whole and we don’t realize to be just one of the myriads of animal
species, we will continue to be indifferent in front of the slaughter of
millions of animals to become objects for experiments or pieces of meat.
Until we don’t cross the gaze of an animal through the bars of a
laboratory or a farm, being pierced by that gaze in an encounter which is
a joining and a feeling inside our soul and body, we will avoid opening
that cage, we will continue not to oppose all this. We don’t realize what
we are losing, what is disappearing forever, not only biodiversity but
also the most intimate significance of every living being and of
ourselves.

An empathy we are not able to feel anymore, in that process of
dehumanization and reification of the living that becomes objects, goods,
material to shape and manipulate, sum of organs, cells, genes, atoms… A
physical separation, far from our sight, but also an emotional separation.
Our eyes fixed on a violent image can run over it as on an advertisement
spot, get used to violence and become indifferent, or shocked, but only
for the flowing moment of a reaction. A distance that brings not a real
awareness on the consequences of this ecocidal system, of the origin of
every harmfulness.

The gas chambers transformed the killer into the role of a “sanitary
official”, to whom it was requested to introduce some “chemical
disinfectants”. The killing and corpses “disposal” were defined as a
“medical problem”. The most of them never shot and never introduced gas,
but were bureaucrats who wrote and prepared projects, they had the ability
to exterminate a population while sitting at their desk…. The causal link
between their actions and the extermination of which “nobody is directly
responsible” is not evident. But every pawn of the whole is fundamental to
produce the final result. That’s how nowadays universities, public and
private research centers, corporations, everybody makes its own part.

I was transferred to the federal prison of Hindelbank in the “high
security with psychological support” section, that is in reality a
psychiatric section even if not defined as such. The absurd justification
for this is the “risk of escape”, the only motivation they can use for
putting me in this separated and closer section, in this prison with no
walls around but only a fence. Next to this section there is the high
security one, built in the 70s for a comrade of the RAF, it is significant
that afterward it was transformed into the section for “dangerous” women
with “serious psychiatric problems”…

To not express clear political reasons behind a “risk of escape” is to
deny the presence of a radical ecologist political prisoner. All this can
be resumed by the assumption “they don’t repress you for what you did or
did not, but for who you are”. For who we are and what we transmit with
our path of struggle and radical critique.

Just as the uproar created around our trial, the huge deployment of
security, aimed at hiding what outside of that court we wanted to transmit
reading our communique, and the meaning of our trial. So the media talked
about “eco-terrorists” and not about what is being prepared in the
laboratories of IBM: tomorrow’s world. A future that is already here.

The artificial will take the place of the natural in a change so deep that
will affect our own way of seeing, of feeling, of perceiving the world
around us,
ourselves, our relationships, the meaning itself of being humans and
living beings.

In America, but in a global context, in the name of national security
there was the proposal of a new set of laws that plan a special juridical
protection for the businesses involved in animal exploitation and in
environmental pollution… it is defined as “terroristic organization for
animal rights or for environment” any association of “two or more people
which supports any political activities aimed at obstructing or preventing
any activities which involve animals, or natural resources”.

I’m taking part in the hunger strike proposed by Marco Camenisch from the
20th to the 29th of January against the World Economic Forum in Davos.
Solidarity to Andy, comrade of the Rote Hilfe International, condemned to
17 months by the federal court of Bellinzona in a political trial that
wanted to be an intimidation signal for the new generations of comrades.

May was the date of the possible release on parole for Marco Camenisch,
but it was rejected. In all these years Marco was always active in the
movement with many hunger strikes, with his translations and written
contributions. He was always by our side, let’s make a strong and big
mobilization for him to be liberated in May!!

Don’t leave the world, before it’s too late we have to understand the
extreme necessity to oppose the advance of biotechnologies and
nanotechnologies.

“Everything flows, everything moves towards some point, the living beings
as well as the rocks and the so called inanimate things such as water. The
snow flows, fast and slow, the air flows in majestic inundations that
carry minerals and leaves, seeds and spores, streams of music and
fragrances; the water flows carrying rocks, the rocks flow from the
volcano’s jaws, just as the rivers’ water and the animals regroup and it’s
all about flowing, a proceeding of legs, of jumping rumps, of spreading
wings, on the soil, in the air, in the sea….. And at the same time the
stars run in the space pushed by a never-ending throbbing, like red
corpuscles in the blood of Nature” (J. Muir, “My first summer on the
Sierra”).

Last minute update: I was told that I’m going to be transferred to the
normal section.

Switzerland: Communiqué by ecoanarchist prisoner Luca ‘Billy’ Bernasconi about his participation in prison protests against the World Economic Forum (

Feb. 18, 2012 Contra Info

Prison separates us physically from the struggles. It isolates us from our loved ones and from the daily complicity of our paths of struggle, denying us our own desires. However it doesn’t manage to take them away from our head, nor the fight from our spirit. On the contrary, the rage and hate we feel against these walls and our jailers roots them further on into our soul, into our flesh.

The thought becomes even more impelling than on the outside: ‘what can I do?’ Therefore, when opportunities to take part in outside mobilizations from the inside of these walls arise, it’s lived as something much more than symbolic. It’s a moment I seize and make fundamentally mine, deep inside where no guard, no cop, no one else whose intention is to abuse their power, should ever be allowed to lay neither hand nor eye. There, inside us, where nothing is symbolic but everything is tension.

Leaders of different sorts of dominion (politicians and contractors, of the media and spiritual means) will meet this year at the World Economic Forum in Davos. There they will confront each other with various subjects in order to trace new models that will anchor even deeper their own privileges and allow them to get richer. Among those subjects, one that stands out is the one relative to ‘the new technological social models’ and, more precisely, ‘to the next wave of technological innovations, especially in the sciences of life, in nanotechnology, in the artificial intelligence’.

It is well known that times of crisis are very propitious periods for the elite in power to force passages that previously were impracticable, thereby introducing changes that allow the system to consolidate even better its power over everyone’s life. Crises are, in fact, what the system needs to renovate in itself and the world around it.

These days, a problem that they make us perceive with exhausting continuity is not much about the climate change (that for some is a deception, while big companies, despite putting on a greener dress, don’t care more about the planet than considering it an instrument to exploit in order to secure their business) but rather about the necessity of finding innovations in order to perpetuate this shitty society; by eliminating or delaying its most visible negative aspects such as ecological unbalances with its consequences in the changing of the climate, or the proliferation of diseases that stigmatize our health.

A turning point has thus arrived for them, in which they come up with an act of renewal that will guarantee the perpetuation of the current system of exploitation besides the imbalances and iniquities that have been accumulated all these years, especially since the latter postwar. The goal is not to solve them, because to really solve the unbalances produced, it would be necessary to question the system itself in its basic operation. In a much more simple and cunning manner they jump with both feet over it, transferring the production of harmfulness to new, more complicated and submerged levels that cannot as easily be connected directly to the system we depend on and its fundamental dynamics of production.

In this sense, nanotechnologies and biotechnologies have several very promising aspects, and the same goes for every aspect or productive sector of the techno-industrial system we live in. They’ll talk about them in Davos because at WEF ‘big’ industrialists and worldwide contractors can meet ‘big’ scientists and hi-tech pioneers from whom they get inspired, then later share a drink with some ‘big’ sponsors in order to convince them to invest and subsequently chat with some governmental authority (or nongovernmental, the roles often get blurred) in order to illustrate to them the goodness of the coming developments and researches. The moment in Davos is a privileged one. This is where the owners of this world and their accomplices (scientists and media) get inspired towards new shared (between them) strategies for their enrichment, the defense of their privileges and of their domination, naturally confirming the tendency of the last years to a sense of social and environmental responsibility (a façade).

Actually, concerning nanotechnologies, one of the key issues during the sessions in Davos will regard exactly how to ‘understand every single danger before unpredictable consequences will impact the public support for nanoscientific research in a negative way’.

It’s clear, isn’t it? Their concern is not the harmfulness that they enclose, but for people to keep on believing their promotion as a miracle of science; and to not even cross people’s minds to refuse them, as already happened (and continues to happen) with biotechnologies in the dietary field, since their development could be determining for the renovation of the system in act, and give it a more respectable facade, which, consequently, would make it more dominant. And this happens thanks to this crisis.

In order to participate in the outside struggles from within, during the WEF week, from 20th till 29th of January, I will abstain from prison food and work, which is compulsory here. This refusal is also intended to be an answer to Silvia’s recent isolation in the psychiatric section of the women’s prison in Hindelbank, as well as to the decision of the prison authorities not to grant visits of friends and comrades without a dividing glass, and in support of Marco Camenisch, whose hearing concerning the decision regarding his release on parole will take place in the next months (May 2012).

I take the opportunity to return hugs of complicity and solidarity to the comrades detained in Greece, Chile (forza Tortuga!), Mexico, Russia, Belarus, Germany, Spain, the US, UK and anywhere in the world; to the comrades of Fuoriluogo in Bologna on trial, to the people from Florence and to the antifascists from Cuneo, to the rebels arrested or charged in Val di Susa (Susa Valley) and to everyone fighting inside and outside infamous walls.

Marco Camenisch: parole denied

Jan. 31, 2012

The Zurich Office of Corrections denied the conditional release of Marco
Camenisch. The 60 years old eco-anarchist prisoner is incarcerated since
20 years. At present, he's in the prison of Lenzburg, Switzerland.

This January he went on a limited hunger strike to protest against the
annual 'World Economic Forum' in Davos - a disgusting gathering of
self-declared business and world leaders, culture industry wankers like
Bono, and assorted rich arseholes. Two anarchist prisoners joined Marco's
protest: Silvia Guerini (prison of Hindelbank) and Luca 'Billy' Bernasconi
(prison of Regensdorf).

This year Marco Camenisch has served 2/3 of his prison sentence. As a rule
prisoners in Switzerland are entitled to an early release on parole after
serving 2/3; Marco is not.

There should be a 'hearing' on his parole in February. But the Zurich
Office of Corrections informed his lawyer, they wouldn't ask Marco any
questions at all - they simply wouldn't release him. End of the story. The
'hearing' is but a farce. Marco will stay behind bars because he doesn't
renounce. He remains steadfast in his political beliefs.

5 years ago a public prosecutor, Ulrich Weder, a member of Swiss Labour
(SP), tried to get Marco sentenced to indefinite incarceration. Asked for
his reasons, Weder said: But why, that's an anarchist! Furthermore the
Zurich Office of Corrections refused Marco's prison leave several times
for no other than political reasons. In preparation for parole, every
prisoner is entitled to a prison leave; again, Marco is not.

We ask everybody to take appropriate action in solidarity with Marco
Camenisch!

And write an email to the Zurich Office of Corrections and let them know
what you think of them: info-juv@ji.zh.ch or info-bvd@ji.zh.ch - there are
fax machines too: +41 43 259 84 40 or +41 43 259 84 41

Victory to the prisoners!

Who is Marco Camenisch?

In the late 1970s Marco Camenisch (b. 1952) was a militant of the popular
movement against nuclear power stations. He was arrested in 1980 and
subsequently got a 10 year prison sentence for attacks against the Swiss
nuclear industry. Luckily, he was able to escape. In 1989 corporate media
and Swiss secret services accused him of murdering a border police
officer. Marco rejectetd these claims. In 1991 he was arrested again, this
time in Italy, and convicted for acts of sabotage against the nuclear
industry. In 2002 he was extradited to Switzerland and sentenced to an
additional 18 years of prison based on a dubious murder charge (the border
copper). Though afterwards, the Swiss Federal Supreme Court declared the
sentence inadmissible. In 2007 it was reduced to 8 years. As late as 2018
they must release him. Marco describes himself as a green anarchist. He is
a very active and sincere supporter of left and progressive social
movements; also, he took part in numerous protests behind bars.

Billy Silvia and Marco on hunger strike

ELP Information Bulletin (25th January 2012) Dear friends ELP has just received the
following e-mail.

> Switzerland – Marco, Silvia and Billy on hunger strike against the WEF

This is a flyer that has been distributed during the demo against the World Economic Forum in Bern (Switzerland) on the 21st of January 2012. We are translating the communiques of Marco, Silvia and Billy about the strike, they will be available soon.

“The three green anarchist prisoners held in the swiss jails decided to join the week of mobilization against the World Economic Forum, which will be held in Switzerland during these days. Marco and Silvia went on hunger strike for 10 days, since 20th to 30th of january 2012. Billy is abstaining from prison food and refusing to work (working is compulsory in swiss jails), against the WEF but also as a response to their prison conditions, more precisely for the liberation of Marco Camenisch in may 2012 and against the presence of divisory glass in the visits of friends.

Marco Camenisch was incarcerated in Switzerland in 1991, he's always been active in green anarchist struggles; Silvia and Billy were arrested, along with Costa, in april 2010 in Zurich for having tried to attack with explosives the newly built nanotechnology research center of
IBM.

We're not surprised by the fact that this year in the schedule of WEF they will also deal with nanotechnologies, because, as with all the technological systems and even more the new technologies (nanotechnologies, biotechnologies and cybernetics), they are not neutral but subjected to the ones who manage economics, and a further tool in the hands of those who hold power.

While the state and corporations bosses meet with each other to impose the new world economic developments, in the labs experts and researchers study to create new means with which to increase social control, strengthen the soldiers, try to make our lives even more artificial and automized, till the point of manipulating the living. Manipulations that provoke devastating and irreversible effects in the earth equilibriums and on human and non human animals.

We will always fight against those who are turning the earth into a land of plastic and concrete, commodities and technologies, industries and offices: a world devoid of life. Against the State and capital which, with their dominating and exploitative logics want human beings to be slaves, the animals to be good, and the planet to be an infinite source of things to sack. The WEF event cannot but increase our anger and desire to keep on struggling, in and outside jails. Solidarity with the prisoners on hunger strike!

Solidarity to Marco, Silvia, Billy and Costa.”

Swiss police press charges against anti-Davos protesters

Jan. 22, 2012 Reuters

ZURICH - Swiss police will charge more than 100 demonstrators
with breaching the peace after they rallied in Bern Saturday to protest
against the World Economic Forum that holds its annual meeting in Davos
this week.

The protesters, some wearing masks, began an unauthorized demonstration
but were stopped by police in Bern, 270 km (170 miles) west of the Davos
ski resort, where the global elite will gather for the forum which opens
Wednesday.

Some protesters threw fire crackers and missiles at police but caused no
material damage, police said in a statement.

Swiss police Wednesday arrested two men suspected of throwing red paint
and scrawling "Smash WEF" in black graffiti on the walls of the Swiss
National Bank in Zurich.

Anger against income inequality and the perceived greed of the rich and
powerful has fed the Occupy Wall Street Movement that spurned copy-cat
protests in cities in the United States and elsewhere, including Zurich.

Occupy protesters are building an igloo camp in Davos, but few
demonstrations are likely at the ski resort given stringent security
measures, including exclusion zones around the main congress center and
air patrols by armed fighter jets.

Eco-terrorists jailed over foiled IBM attack

July 22, 2011 by Jessica Dacey, swissinfo.ch

Three environmental activists have been jailed for over three years each for plotting the bombing of the IBM nanotechnology centre in Switzerland.

A 26-year-old Swiss-Italian from Ticino and an Italian couple aged 29 and 34 were found guilty by the Federal Criminal Court of conspiring to destroy the IBM centre in Rüschlikon, near Zurich, while it was under construction.

They were also found guilty of importing explosives into Switzerland, then illegally hiding and transporting them.

The court in Bellinzona sentenced the trio to terms ranging from just over three years to three years and eight months in the trial which ended on Friday.

On top of their sentences, they will have to also pay court costs. All three have been detained since April 2010 and will have served around 15 months towards their sentence in the lead up to the trial.

Federal prosecutor Hansjörg Stadler said he was pleased with the verdict. "Very serious crimes are now being punished and, thanks to the good job done by the police, damages were prevented," he said.

The defence had pleaded for an acquittal, arguing there had been insufficient evidence proving the potential danger posed by the explosives seized. Defence lawyers declined to comment on the verdict.

Network of anarchists

The three detainees were caught last year about 3km from the IBM facility in possession of 476 grams of explosives and other components needed to build an improvised explosive device.

Also found in their car were 31 letters claiming responsibility for the planned attack in the name of a group calling itself ELF Switzerland Earth Liberation Front. Known in the United States as eco-terrorists, the group carry out “economic sabotage” to stop the destruction of the environment.

The trial has shed light on a loose-knit network of European anarchists, with prosecutors linking the detainees to extremist movements that have claimed responsibility for several violent attacks in the United States and Europe since the 1990s.

Federal prosecutor Stadler said the Swiss-Italian detainee was a member of the Animal Liberation Front, while the Italian married couple were founders and members of the Italian movement Wilderness, which has connections to the Earth Liberation Front.

Another organisation, the Italian-based Informal Anarchist Federation, responded to the trio’s arrest, sending a letter bomb to the Swiss nuclear agency in March with a note demanding their release.

A recent Swiss intelligence services report also found the three detainees had close links to the eco-terrorist movement, Il Silvestre, which came into existence about ten years ago in Pisa, Italy. Il Silvestre is considered among the most extreme and active groups of its kind.

Tight security

The Federal Criminal Court said the three plotters would be held under special security conditions. According to the presiding judge, Walter Wüthrich, all three represented "a serious risk of evasion and flight to Italy".

Security was also very tight during the trial. The case attracted 50 anarchist protestors dressed in black with dreadlocks and carrying placards and megaphones, calling for the “immediate release” of the three detainees, as well as their “spiritual father”, convicted Swiss eco-terrorist Marco Camenisch.

Camenisch is serving an eight year sentence in Switzerland for sabotaging electricity facilities in a protest against nuclear energy from the late 1970s.

Kept away from the courthouse by riot police, the protestors quietly dispersed on Friday. Police said however they could be planning another demonstration outside the Lugano prison La Stampa where the detainees were believed to be taken temporarily.

“Eco Terrorists” Accused Of Plotting Against IBM Face Trial In Switzerland

Three go on trial for allegedly planning to bomb an IBM facility in Switzerland. Prosecutors say the accused have ties with an Italian anarchist group known as the FAI, which claims responsibility for several recent bomb attacks in southern Europe.

LE TEMPS/ Worldcrunch

BELLINZONA - A group of so-called “eco-terrorists” are set to appear this week before the Federal Criminal Court in this town in Switzerland, where they are accused of plotting to bomb an IBM research center in Ruschlikon.

According to the 2010 national security report by the Swiss Defense Department, the allegations are “of great importance” given that the region has experienced a recent wave of violent actions linked to left-wing extremism and “eco-terrorism.”

The defendants, Italians Costantino Alfonso Ragusa, 36 and his wife Silvia Ragusa Guerini, 29, and Luca “Billy” Cristos Bernasconi, 26, of Switzerland, describe themselves as environmental, revolutionary and anarchist activists. The three face charges ranging from attempted arson, to trafficking of illegal explosive substances.

The defendants have been in custody since their arrest on April 15, 2010 outside of Zurich. In the trunk of their rental car, police found five propane bottles, 12 liters of benzene, two liters of engine oil and equipment for igniting the explosives. According to the police, the woman was in possession of two bags of explosive materials weighing 476 grams.

Police also found 31 letters claiming responsibility for a bombing that was allegedly planned for the new IBM building in Ruschlikon. The letters were signed by the Switzerland Earth Liberation Front. Prosecutors say they have no doubt the group was planning to bomb the IBM research center, which is still under construction.

Links to 1970s era terrorists

Several messages written by the defendants have been translated and published online by an anonymous source. In their letters, the alleged eco-terrorists complain about jail conditions and about the fact their mail is monitored. In protest, the detainees launched a hunger strike. Their messages reveal deep ideological convictions. One letter quotes Ulrike Meinhof, a member of the Red Army Faction, Germany's most violent and prominent left-wing terror groups founded in 1970.

“Against any state, priest or boss, against every prison and repression, against any exploitation of men by man, of women by men, of any other species by man and of nature by man,” they explain in a written statement cosigned by Marco Camenisch, a well-known anarchist. Camenisch is currently serving time for killing a customs officer in Brusio, Switzerland.

The name Marco Camenisch along with the names of the three defendants appear in a letter apparently written by the Federazione Anarchica Informale (FAI), an Italian anarchist organization claiming responsibility for last March’s parcel bomb attack on the Swiss nuclear headquarters in Olten. Miraculously, no one was seriously injured by the explosion. The FAI said it carried out the attack to protest the jailing of the four anarchists.

The FAI claims responsibility for several other bomb attacks as well. In Livorno, Italy a soldier lost eight fingers when a parcel bomb exploded. Another parcel bomb, in Athens, Greece, was defused in time. A third bomb attack took place last December in Rome. The targets in that case were the Chilean and Swiss embassies.

The Swiss Embassay had been hit two months earlier by a Molotov cocktail. The attackers reportedly left a message on the wall demanding freedom for the three defendants being held in Switzerland.

Switzerland: Letter from Silvia, Costa, Billy, and Marco on hunger strike May 1 to 28

May 3, 2011 by Gabriella Segata Antolini
from culmine, translated by War on Society:

From May 1 to 28 we undertake a new hunger strike on relays of seven days
each, as a new joint initiative to provide continuity for the links and
relationships already intertwined with other strikes and many initiatives
of solidarity and struggles outside of prison, and also in response to
attempts by the Swiss Federal Prosecutor and by international repression
to denigrate, isolate and stamp out the struggle.

Attempts that will always be in vain in the face of our determination not
to break the thread that binds ourselves to you comrades outside but
instead continue to weave together, as part of the revolutionary movement,
the movement of Earth and Animal Liberation.

A year ago, the beginning of the enormous catastrophe BP-Deep
Water-Horizon confirms the principle of technoindustrial society that its
technological remedy to the technological disaster will always be worse
than the disease that it claims to cure, adding instead to one destruction
another greater destruction. In this case the chemical agent of secret
nanotech composition with unknown consequences experimentally sprayed in
huge quantities in the marine environment.

A secret composition like that of the chemical released at high pressure
along with sand and water deep underground for the, thanks to new
technologies, gas drilling or oil shale extraction, which is to say, not
more of the natural gas in large bubble on the way to depletion, but more
of the gas content in a myriad of bubbles contained in the clay-like shale
layers. With easily-imagined disastrous consequences such as earthquakes
and further chemical pollution in surface water and groundwater.
Emblematic is the proliferation of corporate advertising in the media for
gas as a green energy that with Fukushima have replaced those for nuclear
energy as clean energy…

And images of northern Japan have entered our homes and our cells with all
of the impressive force of an unimaginable event.

The indomitability of the natural element lays bare in its entirety the
anthropocentric presumption of technological-scientific progress and,
along with the lives of thousands of people, swept away in one afternoon
all of the certainties of urban society.

Everywhere around us, science, business and governments have shaped the
existent, placing us all in suspension on an artificial self-regulating
scaffold that is anything but solid: namely, industrial-technological
society.

Over thousands of years of civilization, it is now condensing into its
most total and global expression which is multinational capitalism, to
whose harmful effects and illusions we are all forced to entrust our
lives. With the stupid arrogance that throughout history has marked every
dominant power, it cannot afford any questioning of itself and the present
into which we are forced. Open to alterations, albeit always false
solutions, only if they can reinforce its legitimacy, but that can not
continue to reproduce in a continuous spiral whose circles are
increasingly asphyxiating shrinking around us. Where the internal bio- and
nano-technologies of this spiral that is detrimental to the system itself,
are not simple and additional technological developments among many, but
are the key technologies with which the whole edifice on which we are
deported far away from our natural world is restoring and, inside of the
techno-industrial spiral, representing the ring of the chain that goes to
close the steel circle of dominion over our life and everything that
exists.

Where the profitability-concern of the owners and of the multinational
corporations is not so much that the masses must become dominated by
material progress, but about the “limits” of this world. Then comes the
need to obtain new materials, new materials and substances with new
properties, new forms of energy production, new and ‘improved’ plant and
animal species, new food applications, industrial and medical applications
obtained by the manipulation of life and of matter. Innovations that, as
with all the key innovations of civilization, are born out of military
needs for imperialist war to the outside and inside the trinity of
conquest, control and exploitation.

War, now more than ever, transcends the military field and has expanded
its front, in fact, to every expression of the living and the material
from the macro to the nano and even beyond the planet itself.

Thus every productive sector is invested in these technologies, but no
longer content with the narrowness of the research labs is
transforming–even after it transformed along with space into one deadly
and sickening landfill–the entire planet into a laboratory, a new living
world–or rather a dying, engineered one.

Not–as the great “greenwashing” campaigns of media terrorism and state
want us to believe–to solve social and environmental disasters arising
from the system, but always and ever to reproduce this system of
domination and exploitation with the end of completing once and for all
the techno-industrial complex enclosure.

Through this initiative we want to convey a specific revolutionary
anarchist environmentalist sentiment, which leads us to confront with
interventionary priority biotechnology, nanotechnology and nuclear
research as harmful pillars on which the system goes on recomposing
itself. That is why we take this opportunity also and above all to call
for a renewed fight against genetic engineering and in particular to its
continued diffusion, as articulated by the EFSA in Parma as a required
step, to the GMOs in Europe, supported by multinational chemical and
agro-food, which points to the liberalization of GM crops. This too is
part–a critical part–of the attempt to extend total and absolute control
and domination in all biological processes (such as the social and
economic through nanotechnology/information technology), reducing the
living being to a mere aggregate of genes to shape to the convenience of
production.

Struggle that does not pass by delegating to always-complicit experts or
politicians, but by organizing initiatives and acting widely to stop this
necrology.

With this strike, we reiterate our desire to remain active players in a
larger long-term path of struggle, tearing down walls, barriers and
borders and renewing the power of active complicity with all those who
fight against oppression by man of man, of woman, of other animals and of
the whole earth!

Unconditional complicity and solidarity with the rebels who on February
7th opposed the death transport in Val Susa!

Unconditional complicity and solidarity with/to the five comrades seized
April 6th, 2011 and to all hit by this latest repression based on the
fascist articles of association of Italy!

Solidarity with/to the social guerrilla comrades held hostage in Greece,
Chile, Argentina, Mexico, and everywhere in the world!

Solidarity with/to the comrades of the “bombas case” frame-up and four
Mapuche political prisoners, all on hunger strike and all hostages of the
fascist state in Chile!

And to all the revolutionary prisoners held hostage of the social war here
in Europe as in America and elsewhere in the world!

And last but not least, a warm revolutionary greeting to the comrades
meeting this May 1st here in Zurich and elsewhere in Switzerland, where
the convergence of them in particular is known very much, where we, as
prisoners and revolutionaries, are known very much also in the strong
international participation and mobilization against repression and for
the release of our revolutionary prisoners!

With solidarity in motion, repression will not stop our struggle! The
passion for freedom is stronger than any authority!

Marco Camenisch has been transferred again (Switzerland)

From 325

The anarchist prisoner Marco Camenisch has been transferred to another
prison already a second time in half a year. This time he has been moved
to Lenzburg in Aargau. We don’t yet know the reason for this. But it is
clear, that for prisoners each transfer means great stress: new situation,
new regime, new harassment. Marco needs our solidarity! He is doing time
as a political prisoner for almost 20 years.
