The ATPA is a conservative libertarian organisation. It was established by conservative activist Tim Andrews and is associated with the right wing of the Liberal Party. It is apart of the New Right conservative movement. It operates an online base known as Menzies House, a coordination website that in turn has links to several grassroots conservative sites including closethetentembassy.com, Stop Gillard’s Carbon Tax, Support Bolt and Reclaimaustralia.com.au.

The ATPA is predominantly a corporate lobby/ activist hub. They have been closely linked to tobacco companies who are known supporters of conservative causes. They are staunch opponents of carbon tax, the regulation of the economy and taxes. They are also known as one of the most vocal climate change deniers/skeptics, often claiming that any kind of environmentalist theory is part of a conspiracy and a ploy being used by the Greens and other leftists.
