The New International Bookshop (NIBS) is Melbourne’s famous independentdent left-wing bookshop. We cater for the interests of people whose concerns about justice, democratic rights and the environment lead them to a vision of an alternative society.

NIBS stocks the latest left-wing literature and merchandise from around the world, as well as a huge range of affordable second-hand books across all genres, generously donated by our supporters. We also run regular events, designed to foster debate and discussion on the left.

NIBS is a non-for-profit incorporated organisation. The bookshop is run by a volunteer committee who are members of the association and are elected at the annual general meeting. The bookshop pays a part-time coordinator to manage the day-to-day affairs of the shop. We rely on volunteers to staff the shop and sort our donated books.
