New Mitsubishi Triton special edition revealed

Tough-looking utes are big business in Australia, and now Mitsubishi has joined the party. 

The Japanese car maker has released a Sports Edition based on the four-wheel drive Triton GLS dual-cab that is priced from $45,990 before on-road costs in six-speed manual guise and $48,490 when paired with a five-speed automatic transmission.

That is a $5000 premium over the regular GLS Double Cab, but Mitsubishi has beefed-up the appearance with black fascia dominating the front fa?ade and complimented by a gloss black grille, sports bar, headlight surrounds, side steps, fender flares and 17-inch black alloy wheels.  A black nudge bar caps off the Triton's rough and ready makeover.

Other accessories include a tinted bonnet protector, a tub liner, tow bar and tow ball and carpet floor mats. 

Mitsubishi has also added a locking rear differential, which is usually only equipped on the range-topping Exceed. 

Power is generated from the same 133kW/430Nm 2.4-litre turbodiesel that makes up the rest of the range.
