Man jumped from moving car after shooting in Rockingham

A man jumped out of a moving car shortly after being chased and shot at by another man during a dramatic incident in Rockingham on Wednesday night.

Rockingham Detectives are investigating the shooting and kidnapping incident in Cooloongup which happened at about 5.30pm.

Police say the victim, a 32-year-old man was chased by another man, who had a gun. Police say shots were fired but blank cartridges were used.

The victim jumped over fences and ran through the backyards of houses in Toora Place while being chased until he was caught by the man.

The victim was dragged to a white coloured Mitsubishi Magna and forced into the back seat.

As the car drove off the victim jumped out of the vehicle at the corner of Toora Place and Belrose Street. The victim was chased again and tackled to the ground before being forced into the boot of the Magna.

The vehicle drove away and was followed by a small black coloured vehicle.

Police arrived at the scene shortly after and set up a protected forensic area.

At approximately 7.45pm, the 32-year-old victim returned back to the scene and spoke with police. He was taken to Rockingham Hospital with minor injuries as a result of being assaulted at another location.

Police say the victim later took officers to River Road and Henderson Road in Hopeland, where he says he was assaulted by two men and a woman.

Officers are seeking information and witnesses to the incident, the vehicles involved and the people inside.
