@SusanWatts in case you ever read this, just letting you know - you have to change your default SMS app in your phone's settings back to 'Messages' if for some reason it's automatically swapped from the that; the default, to FB Messenger. Mine didn't though, haven't heard that problem before... Good app imo, runs smoothly etc, perfect for (mostly) free communication!

Don't get me wrong, I've used this app since it became available, but removing the old messages feature to force people to use your app is cutting off your nose to spite your face. I used both features for different purposes, and now I'm forced to use messenger which lacks the features and functionality of the original Facebook messaging system. Also don't need a Snapchat like thing to share, I'm already talking to everyone I need to.

Lots of small problems. No way to customize anything. It reads your messages without asking, and then offers things to you. Can't open shared fb posts from the chat itself; have to use a PC. Can't fast forward in videos; have to watch the entire thing. It compresses all photos into low quality. Lastly, it can access my camera and location even though I explicitly rejected those in the OS. Annoying sounds too. Not recommended.

This app is one of my favorites. Too bad its camera doesn't work any longer, says "the other camera is open", please fix that bug. It also desperately needs to provide the @someone function in group messaging because it's chaos...

Messenger is great for messaging people over WiFi and data and I love the conversation features it offers that are so similar to imessage. But things like the camera and other outside features make the app heavy and the camera pull down is annoying, the old user interface for the conversation list was better. It would be great the camera feature was optional.

Absolute pile of shite why cant you just leave things the way they were? Seems like you have a bunch of kids writing these apps. Cant view my bussiness page messages, keeps telling me to go to messenger, my messenger is for my personal page.....stupid stupid app
I think it should have fun messages, such as voice changer and cool masks like Snapchat. To many permissions and I really hate it when I get my messages in messenger, and having to go back to settings all the time just to change it. Fix this please!
I prefer using this to other apps but recently it's got annoying. I don't receive messages from anyone that is archived (reported this 5 times) and the one person I want to message never receives my messages yet everyone else does. I have got round it and I won't stop using messenger but please can the fixes be made?
The app is good, but I changed phones and now there are constant problems with this app. The messages don't show up in order, if at all, photos do not show. Weird black bars come up. Reinstalling solves the problem for a few seconds then it behaves strangely again. It's too frequent to ignore.
I wanted to give this app 5 stars, because I use this app to communicate with my loved ones. It's just that because of performance issues I've been experiencing with it, it ruins the greatness of this app. Too bad, I've been sending feedback but I never received any response from them nor a fix with my issue.
Horrible app! I constantly have to install and then delete and re install just to read my messages! Always get messages like "messenger isn't responding" it crashes at least 5 times a day! Facebook need to get rid!! Absolutely dreadful
While chat heads are open, cannot manage permissions for other apps that are newly installed. Uses a lot of battery as well, consuming 4x battery than not being installed as it will autostart. And new messages will lag my phone that is less than 6 months old. It works, but I stand by that when Chat was available through the Facebook app, things were much better.
It's a great , easy to use app. My 5 year old girl can use it to FaceTime with my parents if she is bored , it's so easy. Besides, who doesn't enjoy looking at the floating heads on their screen!! ;)
All these updates, but can't even properly update your "What's New" page. Updates every couple days, yet nothing really changes. I'm ticked that this piece of crap is FORCED on us. I'd rather handle my messages in my browser, than this battery draining and cpu killing application. At least make it so that it only starts when THE USER wants to start it. Stupid thing started 12 times on it's own in 7 minutes. I mean seriously guys. I program and make applications and it really is unnecessary. I think you don't tell us what these updates are supposed to fix, so you don't look worst than you already do by the problems still being there 10+ updates later.
People get used to new features like "insta stories", "my messenger day" and upcoming "facebook stories". There might be some lags in those features, but what is more not sense-giving, is not connecting these app together, so if i post something on insta stories, it would give me automatically chance to post the same thing on Facebook or messenger. I think considering it use to be part of the Facebook app. And worked fine. Then it should have been left that way. It takes up way to much space and I have to constantly install and Uninstall depending on how much room Is on my phone. Please fix this
Playing videos is awfull. Can't rewind, sometimes won't work at all. If I open an unread message and quickly hit the back button, it's still marked as unread. Something I also get notifications about unread messages, but they are old and actually read.
Gallery pics won't load. Sick of having to send pictures one by one directly from my gallery. Fix this problem please! Been having this issue for several months!!! Had same issue on my old phone too
Glitchy af. My inbox just keeps reloading and saying "something went wrong". Vids from "my day" would automatically start playing, and whenever I scroll down to look at old convos I've had with people, it just goes back to the top. Please fix
This app is just as irritating as Facebook itself. Too many Facebook gangsters and even more drama. In my opinion...this app is about as usefull as a sick in the pope, because we all know that a sick on the pope is pointless unless in prison

Perfect before... but why am I being charged by the network operator or service provider everytine I send stickers, pictures, and emoticons now even if I have a wifi connection. What is the matter?
Good but you have need 3GB RAM to run this app smoothly. Alot of unnecessary features that. Not even going to comment the fact that they took away old message system and raped you into using Messenger.

Messenger is great. But sometimes, it stop immediately for I don't know reasons. Please warn me first before you stop it so that I can manage what is wrong right away. Thank you.
This app usually runs great, but recently it's gone down hill, which is why I only gave 2 stars. Recently, the app keeps giving me notifications, but when I check, it's notifying me about the message that I sent. The notification also takes some time to go away, and I often have to open and close the message several times before it clears out. Also, the messenger has a lot of trouble when I try to scroll up to read previous messages, it keeps stuttering and trying to force itself back down to the bottom.
When i go to my business page associated with my account, to check messages from potential clients, i can not get to the messages via my phone, and have to wait til i am near my laptop, causing me to lose clients and money. Which in return pisses me off and my phone has ran slower since putting this stupid app on my phone. Why can we not just have one apl for fb functions? Ridiculous.
Still some usless updates. There needs to be its own archive box for archived messeges. Now i can get much f**king wifes messege back up. Get some better reliable updates. Not CRAP!!!!
I do like the app, but I still see that I have unread messages even though I have seen them all. Also is there any way to possibly prevent friends from adding you to chat group without deleting them as a friend?

Facebook now requires you to use this app in order to send Facebook messages. It asks for every permission possible. It's terrible with battery life, data usage, and perfomance. Oh, but you can wiggle the chat head circle around!
It's great, quick, and easy to use on the go, but their are some issues with it tho. It tends to crash when I'm using it, it also lags or hangs all the time which is annoying to say the least, it also causes my other apps to crash when I'm using the floating window, don't know if it's just me. But I do hope, that these issues will be resolved soon. Overall it's a pretty great app, keep up the good work!
I am perplexed that all the intelligence at Facebook and the money they invest into their apps they cannot make one that is less battery consuming and efficient. Makes me wonder if they ever listen to the consumers.
This app has deteriorated since last update, so many permissions! Too much space! And contact sync is not possible! Only good thing is multiple account usage availability
What in the world is this new update for ? I mean you totally ruined it by putting the record button in the middle !!! It is very annoying and what is with this ''my day'' thing ??? I want to use my messenger app as my sms app but it's frustrating when I have to manually click on every message I received to mark it as "read". If someone sends me a message and I open the conversation, reply, and close it, it stills says I have an unread message. Makes the app unusable. Also, make the camera pull-down optional. It drives me up the wall
I can't see what I'm typing! The keyboard covers the text box instead of pushing it up when I'm typing. I have been having this problem since July of last year. SEVEN MONTHS later, it's STILL broken! Fix it please!!
You force your app in order to fully use facebook. Takes a ton of memory. Makes a non-touch layer over other apps and making them unusable untill i press back a hundred times or force close the app. Uses permissions that have no explenation. The emojis repeat. All the updates in the last month(year) have not fixed anything, even the description in the store. Can't send files. Chat bubble closes when touched on the text box border.16/12/2016: WHY? This is the ugliest design ever within an app. Edit: 2017, "Something went wrong " is all this app can display......freshly installed.... pure *******.
Thank you Facebook for deciding what messages I do and don't get notifications for. I should receive everything from my friends. It's getting worst, even the people listed in my favorite people, I don't get their notifications either.
