Davey Alba is a staff writer at WIRED, covering the business beat. Before joining WIRED she was senior associate editor at Popular Mechanics. Alba previously worked at Gizmodo, IEEE Spectrum, and Laptop Magazine. She has a master’s degree in science journalism from Columbia University and a bachelor’s in communication arts from De La Salle University. She lives in San Francisco.

Anna Alexander is the director of photography at WIRED. She’s been producing photo shoots and wrangling WIRED photographers for over 15 years. She recently took a two-year hiatus from WIRED to serve as photo director at Dwell Media. Alexander has a BFA in photography from the University of Arizona. She resides in Novato with her husband and two children.

Sam Baldwin is the product manager at WIRED, where he works closely with the engineering, design, and editorial teams to build digital products that delight readers and generate revenue. Michael Calore is a senior editor at WIRED overseeing all consumer product coverage. He was previously an editor and general assignment reporter on WIRED’s news desk, covering software, the social web, and Internet culture. Before joining WIRED, Calore worked as a print designer, a technical writer, a music writer, and as a journalist in the skate and surf industries. He attended the University of Vermont and now lives in San Francisco.

Chad Carr is the international luxury director at WIRED overseeing the luxury fashion, watch, and beauty accounts. Before joining WIRED, Chad was at Time Inc. in the corporate department handling the luxury category. Previous to that he was at Say Media, an all-digital advertising company. Chad oversaw the luxury market at Vogue, Vanity Fair, Self, and Harper’s Bazaar. He graduated from Baruch College and currently splits his time between Manhattan and Connecticut where he is surrounded by 13 golden retrievers.

In his career at WIRED, he has served as deputy editor, articles editor, director of editorial projects, and products editor. Before that he was editor in chief of MacAddict magazine. She made her first website when she was 12 years old but took a brief detour from web development to receive her JD from UC Hastings College of the Law. Paula Chowles leads the video team at WIRED. Her journalism career began on the streets of Johannesburg, South Africa, as television reporter. She was then promoted as the parliamentary correspondent for the eNews Channel Africa, South Africa’s leading broadcast news channel. Paula also was the executive producer of a weekly debate show for eNCA. During her nine-year journalism career in South Africa she won several journalism awards for stories on human rights, health, politics, and general news. With a burning desire to be at the forefront of the digital media revolution, Paula packed her bags and headed for San Francisco in 2015.

Stephanie Clement joined WIRED in July 2013 as the Detroit account director. She previously served as Detroit account director for Esquire and Marie Claire and before that was an integrated account manager at The Atlantic and an advertising manager at Cadillac. Clement has a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of Michigan. She currently lives in Detroit with her husband and son.

Prior to WIRED, Moretti held senior design roles at several top Italian magazines, including creative director of Rolling Stone Italia.

Tim Moynihan covers hardware for Gadget Lab, with a concentration on cameras, TVs, Ultra HD video, virtual reality, and the weirdest things he can find. You may know him as the 2014 WIRED Smartphone Thunderdome World Champion. Moynihan has 17 years of tech journalism experience, serving as senior editor at PCWorld, homepage editor at CNET, and an online producer at TechTV prior to joining WIRED. He attended the Missouri School of Journalism at the University of Missouri–Columbia. He currently lives in New York City.

Nicholas Thompson was named editor in chief of WIRED in 2017.

Prior to joining WIRED, Thompson served as editor of NewYorker.com from 2012 to 2017, during which time monthly readership increased by 700 percent. He also oversaw the redesign of the website, the launch of The New Yorker Today app, and the introduction of an online paywall, which contributed to a 130 percent increase in annual subscriptions.

Before The New Yorker, Thompson was a senior editor at WIRED, where he assigned and edited the feature story “The Great Escape,” which was the basis for the Oscar-winning film Argo.

During his career, Thompson has written about politics, technology, and law for numerous publications. In 2009, his book “The Hawk and the Dove: Paul Nitze, George Kennan, and the History of the Cold War” was published to critical acclaim.

After studying photography at college in Southern California, Dan finished his formal education at the film school of Ludwig Maximilian University in Munich, Germany. He began his career in photography as a photojournalist in his home town in Ventura County, California. After winning several regional awards for his work, he moved to New York City, where magazine assignments came rapidly. Known for the broad range of subject matter he is able to interpret, he is widely recognized for his unusual celebrity portraiture, his scientific photography, photo illustrations, drawings and photojournalistic stories.
