Nat Fyfe tells 3AW his captaincy appointment will have 'no bearing' on his future

Date

New Fremantle captain Nat Fyfe says his appointment will have "no bearing" on whether or not he stays with the Dockers beyond this season.

But the 2015 Brownlow medallist, who becomes a free agent at the end of this season, has again restated his desire to remain with the Dockers.

Speaking on Sportsday, Fyfe said he wasn't annoyed by the constant speculation surrounding his future and that it was "simply the nature of the business."

"These stories are going to be written and until I put pen to paper on a contract they're going to continue to bubble away," Fyfe said on 3AW.

"I won't let that distract me."

The gun midfielder said he couldn't force people to believe him when he responded to questions about his future.

"I have been asked 1000 times already and read into the comments what you will," Fyfe said.

"But as I said last year, I am pretty clear that I see my future with Fremantle.

"I haven't signed contract as yet and that's because I want to play some football before I put pen to paper.

"That doesn't mean I'm looking at any other clubs or anything like that.

"The news really has no bearing on my intentions contractually."
