Less is more for Jaguar.

As emissions restrictions get ever tighter, car brands are always looking to harness more power for less fuel use while producing lower CO2 emissions. In response to this, Jaguar is set to offer a new range of engines in its 2018 model range.

The British car maker has updated its 147kW/320Nm turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine - which is found 20t XE variants - to cut claimed fuel use to 6.3L/100km down from 7.5L/100km.

Jaguar will also offer the 147kW engine in the XF, where it will be paired with an eight-speed auto with power delivered to the rear wheels, while sipping just 6.8L/100km. The Jaguar XF models powered by this engine will wear the 20t badge.

The second of Jaguar's fresh petrol engines is a new 184kW/365Nm 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol unit that will be made available in the 2018 XF, XE and F-Pace models.

The 25t rear-wheel drive variants across the sedans, and all-wheel drive variants in the F-Pace range, will be powered by the new 184kW engine.

Fuel use has been claimed at 6.3L/100km in the XE, 6.8L/100km in the XF and 7.1L/100km in the F-Pace.

The third new engine is a 177kW/500Nm four-cylinder twin-turbocharged diesel unit.

Jaguar F-Pace 25d variants will sport the new engine when linked to an all-wheel drive drivetrain. It will also appear in the XF.

Fuel use has been rated at a claimed 5.8L/100km in the F-Pace and 5.3L/100km in the XF.

Power has also increased for the Jaguar XE S supercharged 3.0-litre V6 engine to now produce 280kW, up from 250kW.

Jaguar hasn't limited its 2018 model year updates to just it engines it has increased gear across a number of models.

Adaptive damper control is also available and has three driving modes; a default setting as well as normal and dynamic.

The Jaguar XF features the same hands-free boot, safety gear and driving models as the XE while also gaining 20-way adjustable front seats.

F-Pace Portfolio models gain a sport steering wheel and adjustable front seats. Prestige models only get the sport steering wheel.
