This report investigates issues of medical engagement in the context of Australian health services.

Project summary

Much has been written about the nature of engagement of skilled professionals in the governance of public service organisations. There is a growing literature on service improvement which support the premise that the roles that skilled professionals play within the governance of organisations are crucial. One important group in in the governance of health care organisations and services is doctors. Evidence suggests that engaging doctors is crucial to the effectiveness of health services. This project explores the drivers for and barriers to doctors becoming engaged in the governance of health organisations.
