Washington, D.C., formally the District of Columbia and commonly referred to as "Washington", "the District", or simply "D.C.", is the capital of the United States. The signing of the Residence Act on July 16, 1790, approved the creation of a capital district located along the Potomac River on the country's East Coast. The U.S. Constitution provided for a federal district under the exclusive jurisdiction of the Congress and the District is therefore not a part of any U.S. state.
The states of Maryland and Virginia each donated land to form the federal district, which included the pre-existing settlements of Georgetown and Alexandria. Named in honor of George Washington, one of the United States' founding fathers and the leader of the American Continental Army who won the Revolutionary War, the City of Washington was founded in 1791 to serve as the new national capital. In 1846, Congress returned the land originally ceded by Virginia; in 1871, it created a single municipal government for the remaining portion of the District.
Washington had an estimated population of 672,228 as of July 2015. Commuters from the surrounding Maryland and Virginia suburbs raise the city's population to more than one million during the workweek. The Washington metropolitan area, of which the District is a part, has a population of over 6 million, the sixth-largest metropolitan statistical area in the country.
The centers of all three branches of the federal government of the United States are in the District, including the Congress, President, and Supreme Court. Washington is home to many national monuments and museums, which are primarily situated on or around the National Mall. The city hosts 176 foreign embassies as well as the headquarters of many international organizations, trade unions, non-profit organizations, lobbying groups, and professional associations.
A locally elected mayor and a 13‑member council have governed the District since 1973. However, the Congress maintains supreme authority over the city and may overturn local laws. D.C. residents elect a non-voting, at-large congressional delegate to the U.S. House of Representatives, but the District has no representation in the U.S. Senate. The District receives three electoral votes in presidential elections as permitted by the Twenty-third Amendment to the United States Constitution, ratified in 1961.
Tourism
Tourism is Washington's second largest industry. Approximately 18.9 million visitors contributed an estimated $4.8 billion to the local economy in 2012.[128] The District also hosts nearly 200 foreign embassies and international organizations such as the World Bank, the International Monetary Fund (IMF), the Organization of American States, the Inter-American Development Bank, and the Pan American Health Organization. In 2008, the foreign diplomatic corps in Washington employed about 10,000 people and contributed an estimated $400 million annually to the local economy.[81]
The District has growing industries not directly related to government, especially in the areas of education, finance, public policy, and scientific research. Georgetown University, George Washington University, Washington Hospital Center, Children's National Medical Center and Howard University are the top five non-government-related employers in the city as of 2009.[129] According to statistics compiled in 2011, four of the largest 500 companies in the country were headquartered in the District.[130]
Sports
Washington is one of 12 cities in the United States with teams from all four major professional men's sports and is home to one major professional women's team. The Washington Wizards (National Basketball Association), the Washington Capitals (National Hockey League), and the Washington Mystics (Women's National Basketball Association), play at the Verizon Center in Chinatown. Nationals Park, which opened in Southeast D.C. in 2008, is home to the Washington Nationals (Major League Baseball). D.C. United (Major League Soccer) plays at RFK Stadium. The Washington Redskins (National Football League) play at nearby FedExField in Landover, Maryland.

Liberty and Justice are a pair of bald eagles who have raised young for eleven years in a nest one hundred ten feet up an oak tree at the Metropolitan Police Academy in SE, Washington, DC.
Liberty, the female, has primary responsibility for incubating her eggs and caring for the young chicks (once they hatch!). Justice, the male, has the crucial job of catching fish and bringing them for his mate and hatchlings.
The eagles are an urban wildlife success story. Pollution forced bald eagles to abandon their last DC nest in 1946. In 1994, the teenage volunteers of the Earth Conservation Corps launched a bold experiment to try to spur the return of the bald eagle as a nesting resident of our Nation's Capital. Under U.S. Fish and Wildlife permits, the Corps translocated 16 eaglets from nests in Wisconsin to an artificial "hack box" at the U.S. National Arboretum. After being raised for six weeks at the Arboretum the juvenile eagles were released into the skies over Washington. Four eaglets were released every spring from 1994 to 1998. Between the eagle restoration efforts the youth of the Earth Conservation Corps galvanized the entire city in their mission to restore the eagles' Anacostia River habitat.

Fished with Catterman (his channel- http://bit.ly/2kEYD8G) for Blue Cats for the 2nd time in my life, we used fresh cut gizzard shad for bait and caught a number of Blues, with only the 4 decent ones included in this video, we didn't have a scale for the first few fish, that first one that catterman caught was definitely closer to 30lbs. In the grand scheme of Blue cats, 20-30lb fish are not that big, although as far as winter fishing opportunites go as a Philly person, I was very happy to hook into a few fish that size.

Justice, the male, has the crucial job of catching fish and bringing them for his mate and hatchlings. The eagles are an urban wildlife success story. Pollution forced bald eagles to abandon their last DC nest in 1946. In 1994, the teenage volunteers of the Earth Conservation Corps launched a bold experiment to try to spur the return of the bald eagle as a nesting resident of our Nation's Capital. Under U.S. Fish and Wildlife permits, the Corps translocated 16 eaglets from nests in Wisconsin to an artificial "hack box" at the U.S. National Arboretum. After being raised for six weeks at the Arboretum the juvenile eagles were released into the skies over Washington. Four eaglets were released every spring from 1994 to 1998. Between the eagle restoration efforts the youth of the Earth Conservation Corps galvanized the entire city in their mission to restore the eagles' Anacostia River habitat. -

Fished with Catterman (his channel- http://bit.ly/2kEYD8G) for Blue Cats for the 2nd time in my life, we used fresh cut gizzard shad for bait and caught a number of Blues, with only the 4 decent ones included in this video, we didn't have a scale for the first few fish, that first one that catterman caught was definitely closer to 30lbs. In the grand scheme of Blue cats, 20-30lb fish are not that big, although as far as winter fishing opportunites go as a Philly person, I was very happy to hook into a few fish that size. We used 8/0 circle hooks Fresh shad for bait My rod in this video is a 9'6 shimano tiralejo 1-3oz Reel is a Penn Clash 5k Line is 30lb Sufix 832 Not sure what catterman's rods/rigs were but regardless, everything worked. -

Urban Fishing for Big Blue Catfish - Washington DC, February 2017
Fished with Catterman (his channel- http://bit.ly/2kEYD8G) for Blue Cats for the 2nd time in my life, we used fresh cut gizzard shad for bait and caught a number of Blues, with only the 4 decent ones included in this video, we didn't have a scale for the first few fish, that first one that catterman caught was definitely closer to 30lbs. In the grand scheme of Blue cats, 20-30lb fish are not that big, although as far as winter fishing opportunites go as a Philly person, I was very happy to hook into a few fish that size. We used 8/0 circle hooks Fresh shad for bait My rod in this video is a 9'6 shimano tiralejo 1-3oz Reel is a Penn Clash 5k Line is 30lb Sufix 832 Not sure what catterman's rods/rigs were but regardless, everything worked.

The states of Maryland and Virginia each donated land to form the federal district, which included the pre-existing settlements of Georgetown and Alexandria. Named in honor of George Washington, one of the United States' founding fathers and the leader of the American Continental Army who won the Revolutionary War, the City of Washington was founded in 1791 to serve as the new national capital. In 1846, Congress returned the land originally ceded by Virginia; in 1871, it created a single municipal government for the remaining portion of the District.
Washington had an estimated population of 672,228 as of July 2015. Commuters from the surrounding Maryland and Virginia suburbs raise the city's population to more than one million during the workweek. The Washington metropolitan area, of which the District is a part, has a population of over 6 million, the sixth-largest metropolitan statistical area in the country.
The centers of all three branches of the federal government of the United States are in the District, including the Congress, President, and Supreme Court. Washington is home to many national monuments and museums, which are primarily situated on or around the National Mall. The city hosts 176 foreign embassies as well as the headquarters of many international organizations, trade unions, non-profit organizations, lobbying groups, and professional associations.
A locally elected mayor and a 13‑member council have governed the District since 1973. However, the Congress maintains supreme authority over the city and may overturn local laws. D.C. residents elect a non-voting, at-large congressional delegate to the U.S. House of Representatives, but the District has no representation in the U.S. Senate. The District receives three electoral votes in presidential elections as permitted by the Twenty-third Amendment to the United States Constitution, ratified in 1961.
Tourism
Tourism is Washington's second largest industry. Approximately 18.9 million visitors contributed an estimated $4.8 billion to the local economy in 2012.[128] The District also hosts nearly 200 foreign embassies and international organizations such as the World Bank, the International Monetary Fund (IMF), the Organization of American States, the Inter-American Development Bank, and the Pan American Health Organization. In 2008, the foreign diplomatic corps in Washington employed about 10,000 people and contributed an estimated $400 million annually to the local economy.[81]
The District has growing industries not directly related to government, especially in the areas of education, finance, public policy, and scientific research. Georgetown University, George Washington University, Washington Hospital Center, Children's National Medical Center and Howard University are the top five non-government-related employers in the city as of 2009.[129] According to statistics compiled in 2011, four of the largest 500 companies in the country were headquartered in the District.[130]

Washington is one of 12 cities in the United States with teams from all four major professional men's sports and is home to one major professional women's team. The Washington Wizards (National Basketball Association), the Washington Capitals (National Hockey League), and the Washington Mystics (Women's National Basketball Association), play at the Verizon Center in Chinatown. Nationals Park, which opened in Southeast D.C. in 2008, is home to the Washington Nationals (Major League Baseball). D.C. United (Major League Soccer) plays at RFK Stadium. Liberty and Justice are a pair of bald eagles who have raised young for eleven years in a nest one hundred ten feet up an oak tree at the Metropolitan Police Academy in SE, Washington, DC.
Liberty, the female, has primary responsibility for incubating her eggs and caring for the young chicks (once they hatch!). Justice, the male, has the crucial job of catching fish and bringing them for his mate and hatchlings.
The eagles are an urban wildlife success story. Pollution forced bald eagles to abandon their last DC nest in 1946. In 1994, the teenage volunteers of the Earth Conservation Corps launched a bold experiment to try to spur the return of the bald eagle as a nesting resident of our Nation's Capital. Under U.S. Fish and Wildlife permits, the Corps translocated 16 eaglets from nests in Wisconsin to an artificial "hack box" at the U.S. National Arboretum. After being raised for six weeks at the Arboretum the juvenile eagles were released into the skies over Washington. Four eaglets were released every spring from 1994 to 1998. Between the eagle restoration efforts the youth of the Earth Conservation Corps galvanized the entire city in their mission to restore the eagles' Anacostia River habitat.

Fished with Catterman (his channel- http://bit.ly/2kEYD8G) for Blue Cats for the 2nd time in my life, we used fresh cut gizzard shad for bait and caught a number of Blues, with only the 4 decent ones included in this video, we didn't have a scale for the first few fish, that first one that catterman caught was definitely closer to 30lbs. In the grand scheme of Blue cats, 20-30lb fish are not that big, although as far as winter fishing opportunites go as a Philly person, I was very happy to hook into a few fish that size.
We used 8/0 circle hooks
Fresh shad for bait
My rod in this video is a 9'6 shimano tiralejo 1-3oz
Reel is a Penn Clash 5k
Line is 30lb Sufix 832
Not sure what catterman's rods/rigs were but regardless, everything worked.

Since I never tried the 748 so far, I decided to choose Lufthansa via FRA to Zurich. Washington Website Helps Expand the Economy
The State of Washington implemented two websites to attract business and increase employment. The websites are www.WashingtonProspector. and comwww.ChooseWashington.com. Within a few days of launching the website the state had several good leads including a technology company which was considering a busienss expasion in Southern California or the Pacific Northwest. They said when they called that they had been to Washington's website and were impressed with what they saw compared to than they found on other states' websites. This website recieved the International Economic Development Council (IEDC) Best Website Award

SAS Copenhagen to Washington (CPH to IAD) Economy Class
Departed Copenhagen to Washington on SAS926. Seat 29A afforded some great views on this clear flight over the Atlantic. Did get a good look at Norway's fjords and the icebergs off Greenland's coast. Food was so-so. IFES really wasn't great -- no on demand video and the map didn't work. SAS also now charges for wine (55 DKR), which is a bit of a disappointment.

This was the second leg of my trip from Jakarta, Indonesia (where I live) to Washington D.C., USA (where I am from). Yes, every year I try to fly back to the United States to see family and friends and stuff in general. Anyways, we decided to fly Qatar Airways this year for the journey, and this flight was really the "main" flight.
Here is a quick review and some info about the flight:
Flight Info:

Aircraft: Boeing 777-300ER
Aircraft Registration: A7-BEE
Origin: Doha Hamad International Airport (DOH)
Destination: Washington Dulles International Airport (IAD)
Flight time: About 13:45 (13 Hours and 45 minutes)
Date of flight: June 2016
And quick review of the flight:
The meals were okay, I guess slightly small because I was hungry for most of the flight. (it seems like a lot in the video, that is just because I put in all the food shots and not many time-passing shots)
The seat was nice and comfy and the HUGE IFE screen was really nice! The legroom was fine but there was a big seat frame in the way. There was a universal power port and a USB port as well. The tray table was amazing! it had no hook, and it would just click in to the seat in front of you in no time at all!
The IFE was pretty good, and the map worked. the 3D map is only on the Airbus A350 and Airbus A380 on QR, neither of which I have been on (on QR).

The Ethiopian community is thriving in the Washington, D.C. area, with the largest number of Ethiopians outside of east Africa. The nation's embassy estimates about 200,000 people of Ethiopian descent live in the region. And, just as in any city with a large immigrant population, many have opened restaurants offering traditional fare to their countrymen and their new neighbors. VOA's Deborah Block reports diners get a taste of the culture along with the cuisine.

Number eight, Library of Congress. It is the largest library in the world. The magnificent building houses approximately 90 million archives materials.
Number seven, Lincoln Memorial. Dedicated to Abraham Lincoln, 16th US President and a great leader. Completed in 1922, it is modeled after Greek temples.
Number six, Supreme Court. Among the country's most important institutions, you can take a tour to learn about its history and inner workings.
Number five, cherry blossoms. During the springtime, Washington DC is full of stunning cherry blossoms. This is a great time to visit the city.
Number four, National Cathedral. It is the most well known US cathedral. This beautiful building has been the site for many national memorial services.
Number three, The Capitol, a remarkable neoclassical landmark. Recognized around the world, this is where the US Senate and House of Representatives meet.
