About the Notifications timeline

What is the Notifications timeline?

  • The Notifications timeline offers a simple way to see how others on Twitter are interacting with you.
  • From the Notifications timeline, you’ll be able to see which of your Tweets have been liked, plus the latest Retweets (of your Tweets), Tweets directed to you (replies and mentions) and your new followers.
  • You can view your notifications in two ways: All shows you notifications for account activity like new followers, Retweets, mentions, and likes. Mentions shows you notifications only for Tweets that mention your username.

Can I filter the notifications I receive?

Yes. You can control what you see and who you interact with on Twitter. You have two options located in your notifications settings to filter the notifications you receive: Only people you follow and quality filter.

  • Only people you follow shows you notifications only from accounts that you follow.
  • Turning on the quality filter can improve the quality of Tweets you see by using a variety of signals, such as account origin and behavior. When turned on, it filters lower-quality content, like duplicate Tweets or content that appears to be automated — it does not filter content from people you follow or accounts you’ve recently interacted with. Please note that the quality filter may also affect Tweets in other places outside of the notifications timeline, such as top search results and replies on Twitter. Everyone has the option to turn it on or off in their notifications settings.
