"V/Line can confirm there has been an incident involving a car and a V/Line train near Phillis Street, Kangaroo Flat, on the Bendigo line," V/Line said.

"Emergency services are at the site which is approximately 140 kilometres north of Melbourne."

The train involved is the 12.14pm Southern Cross Station to Epsom service, with approximately 80 passengers, a conductor and driver on board.

All services on the Bendigo line have been suspended until further notice.

The collision happened on the same day V/Line released startling vision of a near-hit on the Ballarat line.

A group of trail bike riders were riding on the railway tracks, one of whom came within centimetres of being hit and killed by a high-speed train.
