31 October - Voters in Victoria’s western districts are set to vote in by-elections following the resignation of former Transport and Roads Minister Terry Mulder in Polwarth, and former Premier Denis Napthine in South-West Coast.
19 September: The death of Liberal MP Don Randall has caused a by-election in the outer Perth seat of Canning. Twelve months out from a Federal election, it will be a crucial test of electoral strength for the government and opposition.

| Updated25 October 2014: The revelation to an ICAC inquiry of illegal developer donations at the 2011 state election has led to the resignation of the Liberal members for Charlestown and Newcastle. With both seats having been safe Labor seats until the 2011 election landslide, Labor is favourite to gain both seats ahead of the state election in March.
