The Arkansas House of Representatives is the lower house of the Arkansas General Assembly, the state legislature of the US state of Arkansas. The House is composed of 100 members elected from an equal amount of constituencies across the state. Each district has an average population of 29,159 according to the 2010 federal census. Members are elected to two-year terms and, since the 1993 Amendment 73 to the Arkansas Constitution, limited to three terms.
The Arkansas House of Representatives meets annually, in regular session in odd number years and for a fiscal session in even number years, at the State Capitol in Little Rock.
The Speaker of the House presides over the body and is elected by the membership every two years. His or her duties include the supervision and directing the daily order of business, recognizing members to speak, preserving order in the House, deciding all questions of order and germaneness, certifying all measures passed, assigning committee leadership, and naming members to select committees. In the Speaker's absence, the Speaker Pro Tempore presides.
House of Representatives is the name of legislative bodies in many countries and sub-national entitles. In many countries, the House of Representatives is the lower house of a bicameral legislature, with the corresponding upper house often called a "Senate". In some countries, the House of Representatives is the sole chamber of a unicameral legislature.
The functioning of a house of representatives can vary greatly from country to country, and depends on whether a country has a parliamentary or a presidential system. Members of a House of Representatives are typically apportioned according to population rather than geography.
The Indonesian People's Representative Council (Dewan Perwakilan Rakyat, DPR) is generally known in English as the "House of Representatives", as is the Dewan Rakyat of the Parliament of Malaysia and the Dáil Éireann of the Irish Oireachtas parliament. In the 2012 draft for a new Constitution of Egypt, the People's Assembly is called "House of Representatives".
Arkansas (i/ˈɑːrkənsɔː/) is a state located in the Southern region of the United States. Its name is of Siouan derivation, denoting the Quapaw Indians. The state's diverse geography ranges from the mountainous regions of the Ozark and the Ouachita Mountains, which make up the U.S. Interior Highlands, to the densely forested land in the south known as the Arkansas Timberlands, to the eastern lowlands along the Mississippi River and the Arkansas Delta. Known as "the Natural State", Arkansas has many diverse regions that offer residents and tourists a variety of opportunities for outdoor recreation.
Arkansas is the 29th largest in square miles and the 33rd most populous of the 50 United States. The capital and most populous city is Little Rock, located in the central portion of the state, a hub for transportation, business, culture, and government. The northwestern corner of the state, including the Fayetteville–Springdale–Rogers Metropolitan Area and Fort Smith metropolitan area, is also an important population, education, and economic center. The largest city in the eastern part of the state is Jonesboro. The largest city in the southeastern part of the state is Pine Bluff.
A house is a building that functions as a home, ranging from simple dwellings such as rudimentary huts of nomadic tribes and the improvised shacks in shantytowns to complex, fixed structures of wood, brick, marble or other materials containing plumbing, ventilation and electrical systems. Most conventional modern houses in Western cultures will contain a bedroom, bathroom, kitchen or cooking area, and a living room. In traditional agriculture-oriented societies, domestic animals such as chickens or larger livestock (like cattle) may share part of the house with humans. The social unit that lives in a house is known as a household. Most commonly, a household is a family unit of some kind, although households may also be other social groups or individuals. The design and structure of the house is also subject to change as a consequence of globalization, urbanization and other social, economic, demographic, and technological reasons. Various other cultural factors also influence the building style and patterns of domestic space.

What we can learn from Reconstruction, Watergate, and the Clinton saga. Subscribe to our channel! http://goo.gl/0bsAjO [2:31] CORRECTION: Andrew Johnson was impeached in 1868, not 1863. The founding fathers included impeachment in the constitution so that Congress would have a way to remove leaders who had "rendered themselves obnoxious," in the words of Benjamin Franklin. But the way they set up the process, it's nearly impossible to remove a president from office without substantial support from the president's own party. That's what happened during Watergate: some congressional republicans protected Richard Nixon, but others demanded to know the extent of his involvement in a break-in at the headquarters of the Democratic National Committee, and the subsequent cover-up. In the words...

The first Republican speaker of the Arkansas House of Representatives since reconstruction, State Representative Davy Carter discusses the major issues facing the state heading into the the 89th session of the Arkansas General Assembly, which begins on Jan. 14. An attorney from Cabot, Carter has represented District 48 in the Arkansas House since 2009. He has served on numerous legislative committees, including as chair of the House Revenue and Taxation Committee during the 2010 and 2011 legislative sessions.
Many state laws currently prioritize the agendas of teachers unions over the needs of students, taxpayers and even teachers themselves. Governments often serve as union dues collectors, membership protectors and union defenders by failing to provide teachers with more options. Teachers unions have evolved into self-preserving bureaucracies, building protections and power for union leaders — rather than teachers — into state and local policies as they go. Join this session to learn what some states are doing to untangle these knots and restore power to individual teachers. This interview took place during Bill Clinton's unsuccessful 1974 bid for a seat representing Arkansas in the United States House of Representatives. Two years later, he ran uncontested to become the state attorney general, and in 1978 he won the governorship. Here, Clinton demonstrates his devotion to the intricacies of political maneuvering, his sense of the role of personality in politics, and his fondness for words. He seems aware that his ability to personally connect with Arkansas voters will be important as he vies for the seat, but seems uncomfortable with the idea that he will rely more on charm than on issues. He hopes that his stands on various issues will give Arkansas voters a clear picture of him as a person. The interview is packed with many specific details about Arkansas p...
