Please come along and join us in marking the launch of this important issue.
We are most fortunate to have two major contributors to the issue coming along to speak about their work, Barry Hill and Ponch Hawkes. We also welcome all our other contributors to issue #144.
Barry is perhaps now best known as a poet but has also made distinctive contributions as an historian, journalist, author and academic. He has written a major essay on the Chilcot Inquiry for this issue of Arena Magazine.
Ponch is a Melbourne-based photo artist, whose work is held by the National Gallery of Australia and National Gallery of Victoria. Many of us have enjoyed her work over many years. Her photo essay—‘Stories from the West Bank’—appears in this new issue.
To round the evening off, Open House Ensemble will being playing for us.
The group recently travelled to the Choral Festival in Palestine, a trip documented by Ponch. If you haven’t heard them yet, they are a musical treat!
Refreshments will be served.
All Welcome.
