Located in the heart of Canberra’s parliamentary triangle, the National Electoral Education Centre is a ‘must see’ destination for Civics and Citizenship education. The centre is open weekdays throughout the school year and programs are free, however bookings are essential.

The Experience

Using experiential learning to engage and inform, one of the AEC’s educators will guide you through a 90 minute program which includes:

  • A multi-media presentation that explores the history of Australian democracy,
  • Hands-on activities which help students to understand enrolment, voting and representation, and
  • Voting in a simulated election and then counting votes to achieve a result.
