I guess it was provided by singer and brother and janome. Bernina was not listed and I have sewn on all the Bernina far and wide is the better choice. Go to a quality sewing and fabric shop that features the other brands not mentioned here.

You never even mentioned the Bernina or the Pfaff, how come?
Hi Elaine, Pfaff and Bernina machines are popular in the Europe while in the US they’re not quite popular. Plus while creating this blog, my intention was for the beginners to start with. Pfaff and Bernina machines are way higher than a beginner’s budget (normally $1,000+) and the most expensive one I listed above is around $700 for a Brother PE770.
Then you should retitled your article. Besides, Pfaff, Bernina, Viking and Babylock are favored by many Americans, and at any serious sexist event, those are the machines we own. Direct newbie to a good dealer and they can buy a great second hand machine from a top manufacturer.
It just amazes me how people troll the internet telling other how to give THEIR opinions. Barney, PLEASE don’t apologize for how YOU decide to state your opinion. If other people have that much to say on the subject, let them write their own blog. I personally think Berninas are crappy machines. Don’t be discouraged by the negative remarks.

Really shocked at both your reviews and reply. Bernina is VERY popular in the US. People still like Pfaff and are unaware that they are now made in China. Bernina is STILL a family owned company (4 generations), metal machines. Top quality. Bernina has financing available. Why encourage people to buy cheap plastic that they will get frustrated with and ditch in a couple of years?? If this is your humble opinion…then I’d ditch the review altogether and do a TRUE comparison. Labeling your review ‘Embroidery Machine Experts’ is very misleading unless you review ALL machines. Go try a Bernina. You just might be enlightened.

As far as I know, Bernina is a Switzerland company but it’s not the point. And the reason that I’m not mentioning about Bernina, Pfaff, Babylock or many other brands on this site’s specific homepage, I’ve already stated in my article: Too expensive for a newcomer to try out, or unavailable to get it online. Of course it would be better, absolutely, if you could go to a store and try out all the machines. However, getting it online is so much easier as machines are shipped to your door, and you could enjoy all the fun discovering it.
About the price tags, you can see the most expensive one stated above, is just 3 figures, while the cheapest one of Bernina would be the maximum of 3 figures ($999). Cheap plastic – I have used them and they work quite well, of course it’s not going to feel the premium materials and “smell of a new car” like a $4,500 Bernina will be, but they do good, for the ones who’s new to sewing and/or embroidering.
Anyone at first will need to have some time discover his/her needs, desires, then look for an upgrade later. It’s a LOT more effective, and budgetary than you know, just jump right on a $4,000 – $7,000 machine. Looking at the figures already caused me headaches.
Of course I couldn’t please everyone. There are people who like my reviews and those are who don’t. I understand, and I remain the same for my opinions. I would love to hear opinions from everybody!
As someone that started with a cheaper machine, I wish I would have invested more money to begin with. I purchased two Singers and was not happy with either one. I eventually traded the 2nd one in for a used Viking. I have never looked back and won’t consider a sewing machine that comes from anywhere other than a dealer. For me, it was not worth saving the money as I almost gave up sewing before I really got started.
Dealers have lower end models that allow you to continue to upgrade as you enhance your skills or your sewing interests change. My dealer also offers classes for newbies and will supply the machine so you can decide before you invest if you will enjoy sewing. I used to watch sewing programs and never had any interest in embroidery and thought I would NEVER own an embroidery machine. I was wrong. My first Bernina was a used older model that just happened to have embroidery capabilities. Once I got started I was hooked. I am on my third Bernina (still have the newer embroidery model) and love them all. I have a Viking sewing machine and serger, a Bernina embroidery machine and a Bernina quilting/general sewing machine. Definitely worth the investment if you are going to do any kind of sewing at all. This is one case where I think you get what you pay for. If you are someone that will make an occasional project, something from a big box store might meet your needs. I would likely burn it up in a month and be very frustrated with it. I used to sell them in a retail outlet and they are not as robust or flexible as those from a dealer. It really depends upon how you will use it. 🙂
Do wish people would be more polite. My mother and I bought a basic $200 Brother sewing/quilting machine because we wanted to try sewing to see if we were interested in crafting with fabrics. Had we not been interested after trying it out we would be very grateful for not having wasted more than $200 on it. We are interested in getting more into it and are now seeking a sewing/embroidery machine. We are still early days in this field and are willing to spend a few hundred on a new machine to see if we can use it to increase our income. If so, we will definitely look to spend quite a bit more on a better machine in the future. If not, again, we will be happy not to have wasted more than a few hundred bucks. It would be very foolish for any newbies reading these reviews to run out and buy an expensive Bernina or Janome without some hands-on experience with a cheaper model. Also, we became excited about a particular Bernina this morning but upon further research found that 41% of the reviews on Amazon were 1 star. That means that nearly half absolutely hated the machine. I am sure this does not apply to ALL Berninas and we will not ignore them in our future research, but it was a bit disappointing. Singer also sold out to China and their reviews are usually quite horrible. It is hard to know which ones to trust these days.
The Babylock machines are great machines as,well as vintage Singer machines.
I have to agree that this site is biased. You do not title this “Best Budget Embroidery Machines.” I think you need to make this clear. The more expensive Babylock and Brother machines are way better than any of these, and your site leaves people to believe that only these machines are good.
One of the main things you want to look for when purchasing a machine, is where are you going to get help with that machine. I strongly advise checking out your local dealer. They are there for you. If everyone keeps buying on line there will no longer be local help. I agree that after you purchase your machine you need to read the instruction manual.

I have a Bernina embroidery machine and love it, but even a used one is around $3,000.00 now! I would only buy from a dealer when purchasing an embroidery machine. Most will give you free lessons!
I would consider the PE770, and great beginner machine as it was my first embroidery machine, made me want more 🙂
I now own two ten needle machines, a Babylock, and a Brother, they are precisely the exact same machines, with different
emblems attached . Go for the little more priced machine as the PE770 is a great little machine.
