A manslaughter charge has been withdrawn against a Sydney real estate auctioneer in relation to an Upper Hunter plane crash four years ago.

Scott Kennedy-Green was flying a Cesna when it crashed on Christmas Eve 2008.

He was flying between Mudgee and Glen Innes when the plane went down in the Coolah Tops National Park near Cassilis in the Upper Hunter Valley.

A report by the Australian Transport Safety Bureau found Kennedy-Green did not check the weather conditions before taking off.

His brother-in-law was killed and Kennedy-Green was charged with manslaughter.

That charge has been dropped and Kennedy-Green has pleaded guilty to recklessly operating an aircraft endangering life.

He has been fined $2,000.
