Con poca pasta y, seguramente, mal repartida (entre Kennedy y el alquiler del petrolero debió irse la mayor parte),
Alvin Rakoff se propone a realizar lo que debería ser una obra magna. Para su realización de manera decente, o te inventas una manera de contar el choque entre los barcos sin necesidad de enseñarlo, o te dejas una millonada en efectos especiales.

Un crucero de placer navega plácidamente hacia su destino cuando el barco de la muerte, negro como la noche, intercepta su trayectoria. Ese viejo buque oxidado y abandonado surca el océano en busca de presas, y en los supervivientes del crucero que acaba de golpear encuentra a las ideales. Los pobres náufragos, una vez a bordo del derelicto mortal, descubrirán como la historia infecta con veneno cada uno de los oscuros recovecos del impresionante navío.

Más allá de eso, el barco de la muerte es una de las peores películas de terror de las muchas que se hicieron en aquellos años, cosa que ya es decir. Por otra parte, el ajustado presupuesto repercute en la película, que muestra una recreación del barco totalmente indecorosa (donde transcurre todo el metraje) y que no llega a construir un ambiente verosímil en ningún momento. La mayor parte se la debió llevar George Kennedy (sí, el mítico policía de la saga de Agárralo como puedas, no, Leslie Nielsen no, su jefe), actor que realiza un papel absolutamente vergonzoso en el film, interpretando un personaje que no tiene el más mínimo sentido.
Junto con la imprescindible – aunque algo casposa con el tiempo – “El Triángulo de las Bermudas” (1978), “El Barco de la Muerte” fue una de esas películas de horror marítimo que colmaron de pesadillas durante bastante tiempo mis noches infantiles. Vista con el tiempo resulta complicado entender como semejante patraña, en cuanto a terror se refiere, pudiese causar malos sueños a ningún infante. Claro que los principios de la década de los ochenta se caracterizaban por una mayor inocencia en lo que a cualquier rango de edad se refiere. Aun con la perspectiva del tiempo asumida, resulta conmovedor volver a revisionar un clásico de la serie b más casposa, con la mente lo más abierta posible, para descubrir que pese a sus tremendos fallos mantiene un aura especial capaz de causar una inquietud de la que muchas películas actuales carecen.

Series Premise:
Court Martial is an ITC Entertainment and Roncom Productions co-production crime drama TV series that premiered in 1966. Set during World War II, the series details the investigations of a Judge Advocate General's office.
The series ran for one 26-episode season, with each episode being 60 minutes. The series was shown on ABC in the United States and won the 1966 British Society of Film and Television (later known as BAFTA) TV award for Best Dramatic Series.
The series had its genesis in a two-part episode of NBC's Kraft Suspense Theatre (also starring Peter Graves and Bradford Dillman), "The Case Against Paul Ryker" [10–17 October 1963], which was later re-edited into a 1968 theatrical feature, Sergeant Ryker.
Directors of individual episodes included Sam Wanamaker and British TV stalwart Peter Graham Scott.

Alvin Rakoff
Alvin Rakoff (born February 18, 1927) is a Canadian film and television director who has spent the bulk of his career in England and directed more than 100 television plays, as well as a dozen feature films and numerous stage productions. Among other awards, he is twice winner of the International Emmy Award, for A Voyage Round My Father, starring Laurence Olivier, and Call Me Daddy, starring Donald Pleasence.
Early life
His mother came from Rovno in Ukraine. His father from Voronezh in Russia. His parents met in Toronto. He is the third of seven children. His parents had a shop in what is now known as Kensington Market. After graduation from the University of Toronto he became a journalist and then began writing for Canadian Broadcasting Corporation's nascent television. He was seconded by the CBC to visit "the country where TV first started, England". Days after arriving he sold a script to the British Broadcasting Corporation, at the time the only television broadcaster in the UK. The BBC subsequently invited him to join their television directors' training course. At 26 years old he became the youngest producer/director in the BBC drama department. Rakoff decided to continue his career in England.

George Kennedy
George Harris Kennedy, Jr. (born February 18, 1925) is an American actor who has appeared in more than two hundred film and television productions. His wide variety of roles include "Dragline" in Cool Hand Luke, for which he won an Academy Award; as Joe Patroni in all four of the 1970s Airport disaster films; as Police Captain Ed Hocken in the Naked Gun series of comedy films; and as corrupt oil tycoon Carter McKay on the original Dallas television series.
Early life
Kennedy was born in New York City, into a show business family. His father, George Harris Kennedy, a musician and orchestra leader, died when Kennedy was four years old. He was raised by his mother, Helen A. (née Kieselbach), a ballet dancer. His maternal grandfather was a German immigrant; his ancestry also includes Irish and English.
Kennedy made his stage debut at the age of two, later becoming a radio performer. Kennedy put aside show business during World War II and served in the United States Army for sixteen years, having seen combat and working in Armed Forces radio. He was involved with the opening of the first Army Information Office, which provided technical assistance to films and television shows, like the Phil Silvers Show.

Un crucero de placer navega plácidamente hacia su destino cuando el barco de la muerte, negro como la noche, intercepta su trayectoria. Ese viejo buque oxidado y abandonado surca el océano en busca de presas, y en los supervivientes del crucero que acaba de golpear encuentra a las ideales. Los pobres náufragos, una vez a bordo del derelicto mortal, descubrirán como la historia infecta con veneno cada uno de los oscuros recovecos del impresionante navío.

Más allá de eso, el barco de la muerte es una de las peores películas de terror de las muchas que se hicieron en aquellos años, cosa que ya es decir. Por otra parte, el ajustado presupuesto repercute en la película, que muestra una recreación del barco totalmente indecorosa (donde transcurre todo el metraje) y que no llega a construir un ambiente verosímil en ningún momento. La mayor parte se la debió llevar George Kennedy (sí, el mítico policía de la saga de Agárralo como puedas, no, Leslie Nielsen no, su jefe), actor que realiza un papel absolutamente vergonzoso en el film, interpretando un personaje que no tiene el más mínimo sentido.
Junto con la imprescindible – aunque algo casposa con el tiempo – “El Triángulo de las Bermudas” (1978), “El Barco de la Muerte” fue una de esas películas de horror marítimo que colmaron de pesadillas durante bastante tiempo mis noches infantiles. Vista con el tiempo resulta complicado entender como semejante patraña, en cuanto a terror se refiere, pudiese causar malos sueños a ningún infante. Claro que los principios de la década de los ochenta se caracterizaban por una mayor inocencia en lo que a cualquier rango de edad se refiere. Aun con la perspectiva del tiempo asumida, resulta conmovedor volver a revisionar un clásico de la serie b más casposa, con la mente lo más abierta posible, para descubrir que pese a sus tremendos fallos mantiene un aura especial capaz de causar una inquietud de la que muchas películas actuales carecen.

Alvin Rakoff se propone a realizar lo que debería ser una obra magna. Para su realización de manera decente, o te inventas una manera de contar el choque entre los barcos sin necesidad de enseñarlo, o te dejas una millonada en efectos especiales.

Un crucero de placer navega plácidamente hacia su destino cuando el barco de la muerte, negro como la noche, intercepta su trayectoria. Ese viejo buque oxidado y abandonado surca el océano en busca de presas, y en los supervivientes del crucero que acaba de golpear encuentra a las ideales. Los pobres náufragos, una vez a bordo del derelicto mortal, descubrirán como la historia infecta con veneno cada uno de los oscuros recovecos del impresionante navío.

Más allá de eso, el barco de la muerte es una de las peores películas de terror de las muchas que se hicieron en aquellos años, cosa que ya es decir. Por otra parte, el ajustado presupuesto repercute en la película, que muestra una recreación del barco totalmente indecorosa (donde transcurre todo el metraje) y que no llega a construir un ambiente verosímil en ningún momento. La mayor parte se la debió llevar George Kennedy (sí, el mítico policía de la saga de Agárralo como puedas, no, Leslie Nielsen no, su jefe), actor que realiza un papel absolutamente vergonzoso en el film, interpretando un personaje que no tiene el más mínimo sentido.
Junto con la imprescindible – aunque algo casposa con el tiempo – “El Triángulo de las Bermudas” (1978), “El Barco de la Muerte” fue una de esas películas de horror marítimo que colmaron de pesadillas durante bastante tiempo mis noches infantiles. Vista con el tiempo resulta complicado entender como semejante patraña, en cuanto a terror se refiere, pudiese causar malos sueños a ningún infante. Claro que los principios de la década de los ochenta se caracterizaban por una mayor inocencia en lo que a cualquier rango de edad se refiere. Aun con la perspectiva del tiempo asumida, resulta conmovedor volver a revisionar un clásico de la serie b más casposa, con la mente lo más abierta posible, para descubrir que pese a sus tremendos fallos mantiene un aura especial capaz de causar una inquietud de la que muchas películas actuales carecen.
