Panama (i/ˈpænəmɑː/ PAN-ə-mah; Spanish: Panamá [panaˈma]), officially called the Republic of Panama (Spanish: República de Panamá), is a country in Central America situated between North and South America. It is bordered by Costa Rica to the west, Colombia to the southeast, the Caribbean to the north and the Pacific Ocean to the south. The capital and largest city is Panama City, whose metropolitan area is home to nearly half of the country's 3.9 million people.
Panama was inhabited by several indigenous tribes prior to settlement by the Spanish in the 16th century. Panama broke away from Spain in 1821 and joined a union of Nueva Granada, Ecuador, and Venezuela named the Republic of Gran Colombia. When Gran Colombia dissolved in 1831, Panama and Nueva Granada remained joined, eventually becoming the Republic of Colombia. With the backing of the United States, Panama seceded from Colombia in 1903, allowing the Panama Canal to be built by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers between 1904 and 1914. In 1977, an agreement was signed for the total transfer of the Canal from the United States to Panama by the end of the 20th century, which culminated on 31 December 1999.
New York is a state in the Northeastern United States and is the United States' 27th-most extensive, fourth-most populous, and seventh-most densely populated state. New York is bordered by New Jersey and Pennsylvania to the south and Connecticut, Massachusetts, and Vermont to the east. The state has a maritime border in the Atlantic Ocean with Rhode Island, east of Long Island, as well as an international border with the Canadian provinces of Quebec to the north and Ontario to the west and north. The state of New York, with an estimated 19.8 million residents in 2015, is often referred to as New York State to distinguish it from New York City, the state's most populous city and its economic hub.
With an estimated population of nearly 8.5 million in 2014, New York City is the most populous city in the United States and the premier gateway for legal immigration to the United States. The New York City Metropolitan Area is one of the most populous urban agglomerations in the world. New York City is a global city, exerting a significant impact upon commerce, finance, media, art, fashion, research, technology, education, and entertainment, its fast pace defining the term New York minute. The home of the United Nations Headquarters, New York City is an important center for international diplomacy and has been described as the cultural and financial capital of the world, as well as the world's most economically powerful city. New York City makes up over 40% of the population of New York State. Two-thirds of the state's population lives in the New York City Metropolitan Area, and nearly 40% live on Long Island. Both the state and New York City were named for the 17th century Duke of York, future King James II of England. The next four most populous cities in the state are Buffalo, Rochester, Yonkers, and Syracuse, while the state capital is Albany.

Afro-Latina. Afro Latina. Black Latina. Or simply just Latina. Being brown and Latino comes with it's unique set of challenges. Skin color, being "Black", language criteria (aka do you speak Spanish?!), and representation - or lack thereof. I decided to step out on a limb and discuss my life and experiences as an Afro-Latina/Afro-Panamanian (?). Spend 8 minutes listening to a Panamanian rant. Watch in HD to see my overzealous oil glands get it popping! Subtitles included for non-Spanish speakers. (Spanish errors included as an added bonus for bilinguals -__-) Let me know your thoughts! Siya and I love to try all different types of travel. So, when Transat Holidays invited us to Panama to try one of their Sun Savvy Collection, we said, "yes of course." However, resort travel doesn't mean you have to stay within the perimeter of the resort. You can get out and experience the true culture of a place by taking part in day excursions. How about you? Do you ever stay at resorts? What are your thoughts? What type of traveller do you consider yourself? Modern time wonder The Panama Canal in Panama City. Panama City is the capital of the southern state of Central America’s land bridge. This vibrant, modern city is located in a tropical country at which Panama’s isthmus is only eighty miles wide. The country's name is famous because it contains the most important waterway in the world and the development of both urban and rural areas is due to the presence of the gigantic Panama Canal. This massive and amazingly expensive project of building technology is best understood by travelling along it, a journey that takes around nine hours and changes direction twice a day. Soon we will see the monumental steel bridge of Puenta De Las Américas, the only land connection between North and South America, since the channel cuts through both continen...
We visit Miraflores Locks in the Panama Canal, wander around the old colonial town, drive along the causeway and then take a walk through the national park to see terrapins, leaf-cutter ants and a sloth. www.theredquest.com
My trip to Panama. I go on a month long trip to Panama visiting many sights. Searching high and low and going off the beaten path. This is my adventure log of sorts. From the mountainsides of Caldera. To the growing city of David. The dilapidated beauty of Caso Viejo with its architecture and old style theatres is a sight to behold. I enter the Chiriqui Provence and have a great time with the locals. The rivers, streams, valleys and springs are all equally beautiful. Panama from what I experienced is a place with serious character and texture. With something new around every corner I don't waste any time in seeing what there is to try. Take a look and see if Panama can lure you in. Enjoy. Video Conception, Editing, and Directed by - Peter Ro - @PETEGONZ -------------------------------...
